Quote from: Bürggermeister on March 21, 2026, 11:47:24 AMThe original Chic mix was rejected by Motown and they got their own guy to do it. There's a double CD version of the album which has both mixes. Not a huge amount of difference between the two, to be honest. I saw them a load of times when he started touring again after his cancer diagnosis, even in the Milk Market in Limerick, mad to see them in such a place. The set list is just that, Chic and a load of hits you knew under a different name but may not have known was Chic underneath. Best set list going, to be fair

Righto, must track down the two disc edition for a goo so.

I saw Chic in The Marquee in Cork and had a moment of "musical royalty in a fucking tent" moment. The absolute best setlist for sure  :abbath:

Sister Sledge played Sligo Live moons ago too. Sligo Live being a gig-rig dumped into a carpark.

NP - The The - Infected. Always loved this (Sweet Bird of Truth in particular is a banger), and barely know the rest of his stuff. Must remedy that.

I'd always a soft spot for The The, particularly the aforementioned along with Soul Mining and Dusk.

Ahh yeah, Infected is an amazing album , I'm actually gonna throw it on now myself. The video for that had me transfixed as a child, it's creepy as fuck.

I've always had it somewhere in the back of my mind to check out The The, must give them a go now that they've been mentioned. Is Infected the one to start with then? I do love his guitar style, though if his autobiography is anything to go by it sounds like he largely left that behind after The Smiths?

Johnny Marr didn't join until the third album. The first two (Infected being the second, Soul Mining the debut) are effectively Matt Johnson solo records.

Infected seems to be the one to have hooked people here, so give it a whirl!

I'm just thinking there's probably a thread in my experience with Infected - love it, have done since I first heard it aeons ago, but for some bizarre reason never made the effort to listen to the other albums.

Been giving the debut a whirl via the intertubes and yeah, must pick that up.

I haven't seen this video in decades but whacked it on there. Still creepy as an auld-ish fella. Could see this having an effect akin to New Order's "True Faith" on me if I was a kid!

I've always been curious about The The, but learning that Johnny Marr was involved is an instant dealbreaker. The Smiths were so terrible that anything they touched is automatically shite by association.

On the contrary, I've never listened to The The but Johnny Marr's involvement has piqued my interest.

Trio Ramberget album on repeat at the moment. Gloomy chamber jazz for when you're feeling a bit David Lynch

Bob Dylan - Bringing it all Back Home

Still haven't had my Dylan phase, but I thoroughly enjoyed this last night, so it might be time!

Every song on this one was good, with 'It's alright ma (I'm Only Bleeding)' being my favourite.

Subterranean Homesick Blues is also a favourite, but I had heard that one a lot already. Who knew Dylan invented rap ;)

Pressing On  EP

U.S hardcore punk cassette bought some time ago, worth investigating.

Alanis Morrisette - Jagged Little Pill

Tori Amos - Little Earthquakes

Kula Shaker - Peasants, Pigs and Astronauts

The album which killed their career, but it has been a long-time favourite of mine, 70's style rock with a smidge of Floyd and a dose of bleedin' raga. How they got lumped with the Britpop tag is beyond me

They had a new one out very recently, which led to me finding out that they've released 8 albums!
