I'd love to see a comparison between those prices, and what those versions go for now, probably someone's retirement fund

Blue Grape catalog content from 90-96 would be a nice little earner (scalping tshirt bastards!)

Ahh I used to check that Shades list every week. Actually got to the shop I think about 2 weeks before it closed? It had fuck all left in there. I got a Samhain album.

I pretty much lived in the shirts from Blue Grape catalogue from 90-96, back when t-shirts designs didn't cover the whole damn shirt.
Wearing jeans and leather, not crackerjack clothes

I dug out a bunch of CDs not too long ago and a few had HMV stickers still on them.
One was £29.99 good old Irish Púnts.
Cunts would just put an 'IMPORT' sticker on it and jack up the price.

What the fuck was going through my head back then...  :eyeroll:

That's precisely what happened, a mate who worked there confirmed it. Another trick was to get a bunch of CDs/DVDs/whatever in, put one on the shelf at a hugely inflated price for a few days, then stick them all out at the standard price with a sale sticker on it because technically they'd been reduced.

'IMPORT' usually meant 'add the rent of the commercial unit to this as we're losing money on the top 20 stock' for HMV.

Remember seeing an Abaddon Incarnate cd with an import sticker on it back in the day. Bren was in the band at the time and worked there 😄

Saw a clip on Instagram of a band that's playing the Academy tonight, but they were being charged 25% of the merch cut so they're going to sell it in Wigwam next door

Wonder if more bands will start doing this, seems like a win for them and the pub

Uncle Acid did that the last time they played The Academy I think.

isn't it such an insult to a band to have to actually do that. Has to be done though

t-shirts at Priest/Nevermore were €50

never ceases to make my eyes pop, and no way I'd ever pay it

I just saw a poster for Party San 2027. Tribute to Bathory and Mgła listed as headliners. A tribute headliner is dodge for a start, but what really caught my eye was seeing Mgła listed above Primordial. Have they made that jump?

4x the amount of monthly listeners on spotify, kinda surprised about that too tbh
