Quote from: Carnage on May 04, 2026, 12:59:57 PMVoivod supported Neurosis along with Today Is The Day, '98 I think it was (Neurosis and Breach supported Entombed a couple of years earlier). I don't remember a walking stick but I do remember being extremely bored by them. Which is a surprise as Phobos is one of my favourite Voivod albums and it was the Eric Forrest-led version that played that night.

97 must have been the Entombed gig.

I have a memory of this ould looking invalid on stage with them, but maybe I have completely invented the walking stick/cane bit...

I've never listened to Phobos before so I've just put it on YouTube.

Edit. It's fucking savage sounding.

Been on a Voivod buzz lately. Post Society is a perfect EP. Still digging more into the later stuff.

Aye, it's a cracker. A bit different for them, understandably.

I'm sure it's heresy to say it but Negatron and Phobos are my favourite Voivod albums

Nothingface and Phobos for me.

Dimension Hatros, Killing Technology, Negatron for me.

Though Post Society is my favourite release of theirs.

Maybe this is more of a random non- metal, or metal adjacent thought. I was driving back home from doing some exercise and I had The Moon Lay Hidden Beneath A Cloud on the stereo- A New Soldier... track 5 to be precise- and it was dark and raining. As I ascended the hill I entered a patch of road where the clouds were sitting low. With the trees all around, the darkness and the rain and the Cloud being illuminated by overhead street lights the scene seemed perfectly set to embody the music. A nice moment of synchronicity in the universe  8)

First I heard of them was Insect and I went off listening to Negatron and Phobos thinking that was the sound. I got an awful shock when I heard the vocals on the other stuff going back the years. I like it now but it took a good while

I still can't get into their other albums based on the vocals. Musically it sounds good but the vocals kill it for me every time
