I thought it was time Unto Others got their own thread rather than hijacking the new releases thread again...

I only discovered them in April 2022 after being turned off by the name and having only a passing listen off them with a shrug and a meh.

I got seriously hooked after trying them out live anyway after a "Will I, won't I?" argument with myself, and they're probably the most listened to band for me since between "Strenght" and "Mana", with riffs and choruses spinning in the ceann since.

So "Strenght... Deep Cuts" is being released generally on 10th February, they hope to have a new album out later this year, and an Oz tour in May is already 50% sold out after announcing the dates 4 days ago.

Deep Cuts is only about 23 minutes long and actually has a cover and 2 demo tracks so I'm not so sure how they planned to release it originally as part of a double LP. I must check it out yet anyway: https://bio.to/DeepCuts

Some of you Aussie residents might be interested in their upcoming tour: https://bio.to/DeepCutsAustralia2023

A recent post indicated a possibility of a new album this year, but that seems a bit ambitious surely...

"2023 largely sees the end of the Strength touring cycle. It is time for us to focus on the next record. Which we hope to see out this year. We will be traveling to Asia and Australia for the first time, and also doing a EU festival run as well. All will be announced formally in due time, the main focus is the same as always, and that is making the next album the best of our career, and then do it again, and again.."

Nice one for the heads up, Brian. Going to order some tickets for Melbourne  8)

The ep collection arrived this morning from Eisenwald records. It's brilliant.
The delivery costs however are not brilliant.

No bother McLove. Another band I love but  from the other end of the scale are touring Oz as well, Kreulety from Japan (Profound Lore), starting tomorrow. They're hitting Melbourne on 23rd and 24th February if ya wanna check them out (The Tote and The Worker's Club respectively - how big is the scene there??).

Yeah the postage costs are a hindrance as ever for getting vinyl in the post. Even demos from the States, you'd wonder how the underground demo tape scene would take off in this day and age where some bandcamp pages are looking for maybe €22 to post a tape, ffs...

I've listened to Strength deep cuts ep a few times since yesterday and I can see why somebody in the chain of command recommended leaving them off the album.
It's not that they are bad songs, more a case of they wouldn't have elevated that album.
It's good they released it as this rather than part of the next record though.

I said to the wife today, shit, we never booked tickets for Unto Others!

Oh didn't we??

She booked them in a couple of days ago and somehow it wasn't already sold out. Haven't been out to a gig in a few years now so this will be fun.

I haven't a clue about what's going on here in terms of gigs to be honest as I haven't been looking. Work and family life kind of eat up all my time but I've booked in for recording lessons starting next week so hopefully I'll be back in action and making music that nobody ever wanted or asked for in the near future

Heading in to see these dudes tonight with tomorrow booked off work. A few yummy pints and a bit of gothic heavy metal. What more could you ask for  8)

Nice, enjoy!

Re your cherry blossoms comment elsewhere, it would have been nice to catch their tour with Sigh 2 nights in a row last week :abbath:

Uguuuggh, give me to the night, give me to the ages, take me awaaay

I only saw that yesterday that Sigh had played here  :-\

Just Picked up 'strength' on a bit of a whim from the bargain bucket this weekend having known little about them other than the name.

Fuck, this absolutely rules! I'm on my third listen now and it's a banger, so goddamn catchy. Dare I say it sounds like gothy metal version of The Smiths at points, particularly 'Little Bird'.. this is seriously great, maybe trails off the last couple of songs but the rest is good enough for me, must hunt down the debut.

Yep it's savage. They played here last year and kicked arse.

They're such an oddity of a band to describe to folks, it's always a case of "Listen to 'em, they're deadly!"

I think they are brilliant and they seem to be getting a big push. New singles are only fair.
Maybe they need to be listened to as part of the whole album.
Does he or doesn't he have an auto tune on his vocals?

Hopefully Century Media do a better job with them. COVID and Turnstile blowing up kinda killed the push that Roadrunner had for them.
