Paradise Lost made this cryptic post yesterday, announcement to follow

Guessing they're looking to continue that style outside of the PL banner???

I actually loved Host so wouldn't mind hearing more stuff along those lines.
The last few Paradise Lost albums have been beyond dull.

I'm with you on Host, it's a fantastic album. Still enjoy Symbol of Life too though some of that album hasn't aged quite as well.

Yeah I really enjoyed Symbol Of Life as well. There's an excellent cover of Xavier by Dead Can Dance as a bonus track on the version I have.

They played Cork on the Host tour, absolute scutter of a gig!

It was very disappointing alright.
That tour was before the actual release as well, or am I totally off.
Regardless! That gig was my first introduction to the songs and it was such a let down.

I absolutely loved 'One Second' back then. Still think it's very underrated. But 'Host' totally missed the mark.
It's still sitting in the stacks at home, but hasn't been played since the year of it's release.

I think Host is an excellent record if you're into that type of thing. Musically it's not that different in some ways if you can get over some of the textures/effect choices. I will agree it was probably a step too far for most of their fanbase, but I'd take Host over any of their recent output which has been fairly workmanlike.

If it is what they're doing I think it's a good idea to honor that stuff outside the scope of PL.

100%

Great album and if it's miserable PL you're after, this is certainly up there.

I stuck "Host" on last night after seeing the post above. It sounded OK to me despite having an aversion to Depeche Mode and any form of Depeche Modery in general. I was at the Dublin leg of that tour and it was my first time seeing PL live. I had no interest in what they were doing at that point but was hoping to hear some classics. I remember standing patiently (soberly) down the back and finally, the very last song was "As I Die". That was all I got

I have no interest in Host or any of the muck they were peddling in the 00's. The Plague Within, Medusa and Obsidian all sit very well with me.

I was right at the front and you could tell they, well Nick anyway, didn't even want to play that.
Wearing jeans and leather, not crackerjack clothes

Ah yeah that gig was indeed crap, again why I think this might work. It's a polarizing album for sure.

That period of output was mixed. When it was good it was really good but when it was bad it was utter shit.

I remember being at the Cork gig and one of his first statements to the crowd was something along the lines of " we are playing all this stuff so tough shit of you don't like it".
That's not word for word but that's the gist of it.
G. Mackintosh broke his arm after getting hammered in Fredz post show apparently.

Yeah, Believe in Nothing is dreadful. They remixed it there a couple of years back and I picked it up but there's no saving it.
