Rockstar doing their best to kill off the second hand game market, as well with this. If they don't bring out a physical copy, that's fine by me, I'll stick with V - after all, it's still an enjoyable game. Did the same with the latest NASCAR game, no physical copy. no worries, I play the older games.

You'd think all these fucking spastics with their "Get with the times, we don't need physical media" crap would have learned from the amount of stuff that has been removed from people's streaming services, that they had already paid for, over the past few years.

Edit: And all the cunts who'll rush out and buy the game are the same cunts who buy GTA Online cash cards.

I saw that Postal is free on Steam. Never played it as I was too young when it came out but I have really enjoyed it.

Will have to pull myself away from my snes binge to give it a go, never played it either and ya can't argue with free.

Playing through breath of fire 1 atm, and while good, the translation is dire 😅 to the point of not knowing what items even are e.g "ProtnB - this can be used in battle"

Finished actraiser 2 last week, despite the shite people say about it not having sim elements like the first one, its class. A feast for anyone who enjoys Castlevania IV, Hagane or the likes.

I never got past the PS4 because of the silliness such as you describe. Can't stick the idea of buying a disc and then still not having the full game at one's disposal and also then having to be always on the WiFi to do anything. Very painful having grown up with the old way. And the disc size argument might be a goer but then couldn't games be on usb sticks or whatever but still be the full thing that's yours and that's that.

Ah well I'll just stick to old games like there's enough of them to fill up the time I'd ever spend gaming again.

All that said, if someone else gets GTA 6, I'd like a go of it at some point

Has that ship not already sailed a decade or so ago thou really? Like, bar stuff like in house nintendo developed titles, most physical copies of games are effectively just download codes on disks that require immediate day 1 updates anyway to be functional?

Suppose Im a little out of the loop, I live in a retro/indie games bubble for 99% of my gaming, only emerging to buy a AAA title that would get a physical release every few years when fromsoft or the likes put something out.

Id say my buying habits are 50% weird digital only steam games, 50% decades out of print retro stuff, so maybe I'm missing the problem as im not the target demographic.

Has anyone ordered the Neo Geo AES+? I was considering getting it until I saw the games are going to be €80 each. It's cartridges so a step in the right direction since it won't have digital downloads.

Not myself anyway. Looks like a cool piece of kit but anything NeoGeo is a rich mans game. Even the flashcarts for Aes cost hundreds if I recall.

I have the mini which is disappointing because I bought it thinking I could easily hack it and have every game on it only to find out after buying it that the hack requires opening it and soldering stuff. Then on top of that the output is very poor quality when you connect it to a TV.

A saturn with a saroo flashcart could be a much cheaper option for you. Theres alot of neogeo ports on the system and the set-up is relatively cheap by comparison. A saturn would set you back about €100 if you keep an eye out for a good second hand deal on adverts or the likes, hdmi converter and saroo about €15 and €50 respectively off aliexpress. I have that set up and its great, had no compatibility issues with games, even fan translated japanese releases.

I hear ya on the soldering, Ive modded a few bits n bobs like that in the past but these days I cba

Thanks I will look into that. I am also on the look out for the Arcade Stick Pro which seems to be easy to hack and it fixed all the issues people had with the mini.

Ah fuck that noise, does everything have to be enshittified  :eyeroll:

Writing was on the wall with Sony for a long time. They're trying to get out of Blu ray drives for years.

I can see them start to license out their movie Catalog to Arrow etc as boutique Blu Ray isn't going away.

PlayStation keeps the company afloat (Usually 60%+ of their revenue)but the memory costs and shortages fucked this generation of hardware so the board is taking scalps.
