Nah, it's actually the best thing ever. But as for energy levels and free time... wave them goodbye!

Best thing to ever happen man. They're a gift and a blessing...

Best thing to happen to me was getting a vasectomy haha. There is not one part of having kids that seems enjoyable to me. The whole thing just seems like a load of monotonous nonsense.

Wait, are we now talking about sex? I mean, yeah, technically... monotonous,  I suppose... but somehow it seems like more than that... I can't quite put my finger on it. Maybe give it another try?

Yeah they're great mine are 11 now and best thing in the world. I remember the sleepless nights only to well, they're twins so one would wake the other one up and then it's fucking party time at 3am.

Love our wee fella, but wouldn't go so far as to suggest not having a kid is missing out in some way: I think I'd be just as happy without one, just in a very different way

I'm always glad to see people happy with their decision to have them, it just would not suit me at all.

Had the first one at 21, and the second at 51 and I'd actually love another one or two to be honest...

Fuckin hell, having kids at 51. Mad cunt haha.

My 5 year old was a dream in terms of sleep. Apart from the odd regression he was sleeping 12 hours a night consistently from 6 months.

Having kids is class, just energy-sapping. No judgement on anyone who doesn't want kids - live your truth, my brothers!

To be sure. It's not for everyone, but it is class!

Same! Never in a million years would I have one. I can't function on less than nine hours sleep, the first few years in terms of sleep deprivation sounds like torture.

But I'm also in the happy for everyone else who has one camp. Especially when they actually give a shit and are good parents, giving the child a proper chance in life. Fair play to all ye lads (and yer missuses) doing that.

Like they're great, just not personally for me.

A friend from way back, same age, is now a grandfather. Lads, that's when you feel old.

No kids myself (as it turns out), and I'm glad of it now. When I was younger all I wanted was the wife and kids, ended up with neither but these days that suits me. I found that as I got older I became much more selfish about having time to myself.

I don't feel I'm missing out but I know when you have kids yourself, everything changes, your priorities first of all. I'm sure that if I had kids I'd feel differently so fair play to ye lads that have them and are doing a good job with them.

One good beating a month seems to do the trick. That's the secret to good parenting. Rule by fear, love is for wimps.

Yeah, I have a grandson too, he's 4 now. I absolutely love having the little ones around. I'm lucky, I'm literally retired now and am with my little one virtually all day every day, bar a few hours she goes to day care 3 days a week...
I'm at the age now that I've done lots and travelled enough, and don't go out much nowadays either. So it's absolutely brilliant immersing in parenthood again.
The child's mother is a good bit younger than me, so that helps too...
