Mixed Sierra Nevada 12-packs and Sierra Nevada California IPA 12-packs - €20 in SuperValu currently.

Decent enough deal seeing as a 4 pack is normally €10.

Discovered something cool which will probably only apply to jakey bastards like me but the cans of Excelsior in Lidl say 440ml on the can but are in fact 500ml. Great stuff and tastes as cheap as ever

Are they still selling excelsior? That stuff is fuckin grim. It just tastes like it's own can.

Worst part of MUP is rendering the likes of Lidl's perlenbacher or Aldi's Rheinbacher pointless. That stuff got me through college at 6 bottles for 7 quid of a decent pilsner. Now you have shit beer at 1.95, good beer at 2.10 and great beer at 2.50. what's the point in having the shit beer on the shelf ? The 4 cans of Rheinbacher pilsner for 5 quid was an absolutely insane deal for the quality. Now it's about 8 quid. Cunts.

I agree it has mostly made the cheap shit pointless and were it not for the secret extra 60ml in the Excelsior (bringing it below the MUP) I wouldn't go near it either. It's 1.39 a can now so still a bit pricey but fuck it I do love to drink 12 cans of cheap shit lager when I can.

Normally, because of MUP I buy 4 large bottles of Guinness for a tenner and be happy enough with that. The new system has certainly changed my habits and reduced my overall consumption for better or worse

I hope this deal is still on when I get home

You'll still find the odd 4 for €5 500ml Prazskys being sold here and there in shops.  It was very common there for a few weeks but now it's rare enough.  Fine Wines obviously didn't give a fuck anyway and kept moving their old stock at the old prices.

Out in the Canaries at the minute and drinking my way through various cheap delights.  Some good, some terrible, all documented as I go along in this twitter thread.  Enjoy

That Voll-Damm is nice alright, but take it handy on it:)

I recommend Alhambra or Estrella Galicia, both very solid lagers. The former has a few fancy variations, but if you find a pub with it on tap, you're in for the night.

Yeah the local costcutter here just sold the drink at the old price until it was gone. The last thing left was the Carling.

I dunno why more companies don't just lie about what's in the can.

Also, that Twitter thread.. lol

Going picking up a couple of the favourites for my last few days and the Voll-Damm is on the list.  It is rocket fuel though.  Also a shocking amount of belgian beer on the shelves over here.  Have a Dino mart lager in the fridge for later, surely that will beat the Spar Lager for utter muck factor.

Didn't see the Alhambra but found the Estrella on tap in a few places and it was delicious.  Amstel seems to be the go-to for pints in most places here, was surprised by that.

Is that Alpenfest wheat beer available in Lidl at home?

Saw it for 45c for a 500ml can the other day, which kind of makes it irrelevant if it's any use or not :)

Still, wouldn't mind hearing if any of ye have wet the whistle with it.

I think it is now. It seems to be a seasonal thing when they get it in. It isn't that cheap though. I couldn't get over how cheap booze is abroad

Pretty sure I drank it last year and it was rotten but I wouldn't be a fan of the wheat beers anyway so maybe one of the lesser cheapskates will be better qualified to review it. I get an awful hangover off the wheat stuff

Aldi have a few Dot Brewing & Lough Gill crafts at the minute. The Dot Brewing beers are between €1.30 and €1.50 cheaper per can than my local craft offie. And they're fresh off the line this month.

They also have Einseidler and Spaten for less than anywhere else.

Beer snobs and jakey cunts; let our powers combine!

Yeah that Lough Gill extra special bitter and their witbier in Aldi are top notch. About 2 quid each as well.

Noticed Lidl also has the 5L mini kegs of Perlenbacher in stock for 20 quid as well. Not the greatest value but they're good for the novelty factor. Lidl have the Belgian 6 pack for 15 quid back as well if anyone is looking to forget most of the day.
