Should have spent the whole morning working, but when I found myself home alone, I decided instead to grab me Bloom bewk, throw on some Planxty and sit back in the aul reading chair for an hour. Jaysis, but it was only mighty.

We have a sort of Graveyard, to coin Trey Spruance's term, of riffs and ideas for Third Island that lately we went through (four bastarding hours of multitracked but rough jams) and trimmed to a half hour of 10-30 second ideas in a single mp3 then deleted all the sessions to force us to rewrite anything we like.  I have listened to this I dunno how many times, seeing what jumps out as a writing point to expand on the best of it.  Today one of the ideas got stuck in my head but in a way where I had the song mentally fleshed out in minutes and I am at home with it coming together now like I know it my whole life.  What a lovely feeling.  I am also full of drink

My back is fucked, but it's that satisfying pain you get from a hard day's work and the end of a job - in this case, finishing bringing turf home & into the shed.

The bastard short sharp shock of a run I've been doing over the past few week- I just more or less (more I think) doubled the fucker and didn't keel over with a heart attack. Also, my gimpy knees which had me in physio last year seem to be holding up

Good man. I use an app called run double which keeps a record of distance. Highly recommended.

I never bring my phone so it'll be lost on me. I never know what exact distance I'm covering but the legs and lungs have no problem telling you when you're working hard.
