Woke up in the mood for some by the book Swedish death metal today so:
Vomitory -"Through Sepulchral Shadows" demo

Gorement - "The Ending Quest" lp

Therion, Grave and Utumno lined up for the afternoon work soundtrack

Resurrection -Embalmed Existence 7.5/10

As Floridian as it gets with its Scott Burns production and Seagrave artwork, this 1993 debut remains a little overlooked for my money and deserves its place alongside Malevolent Creation, Obituary, Pestilence and Monstrosity on the shelves.

Musically it's great, it's just those spoken word bits between the songs that ruin it. I cut them out myself, I don't need a ranting Krang in the middle of my death metal.

Yeah, they're a bit much alright. Krang

Carach Angren: Franckensteina Strataemontanus

Great fun if you like symphonic black metal

Satan - Cruel Magic

Twisted Tower Dire - Wars In The Unknown 7/10

Thought there might have been a new full length from these boys this year but instead they put out a split with Cauldron Born. Anyone spot it on any of the distros this side of the pond?

Genuflexion - Padre de todos los abismos

Hypocrisy - Penetralia
Raven - All Hell's Breaking Loose
Jag Panzer - The Hallowed (has a few catchy tracks, really starting to grow on me).
1914 - Eschatology of War
Fractal Universe - The Impassible Horizon
Blood Star - First Sighting (very solid traditional metal).
Iron Maiden - Number of the Beast
Lord Mountain - The Oath
Evergrey - Hymns For The Broken
MegatonSword - Blood Hails Steel
Obscura - A Valediction
Mourn The Light - Stare into the Face of Death

RUIM - Black Royal Spiritism – I . O Sino da Igreja

I don't think I've seen this album mentioned at all, but for me, the best and strongest Black metal album of the year so far. Its Rune aka Blasphemer from MAYHEM, AURA NOIR etc solo band. His guitar work is phenomenal on it. Well worth checking out. He does a decent job at the vocals too, he actually sounds a good bit like MANIAC, if someone told me this was an unreleased MAYHEM album from in between Grand Declaration and Chimera, I would believe them. (well maybe apart from it not sounding like Hellhammer on drums)

It really is deadly.

Funeral- Tragedies/Tristesse
Godsend- As Shadows Fall/Demo 92
Steel Pole Bath Tub - the Skull tape
Lovely Little Girls' new one up next

Someone was definitely singing the praises of the Ruïm album on here. Will have to give it a go.

Morbid Angel - Abominations of Desolation
Morbid Angel - Covenant
Hate Eternal - Conquering The Throne
Decapitated - Winds of Creation
Cannibal Corpse - Vile
Diocletian- Gesundrian
Heaving Earth - Darkness of God
