The Haunted- Made me do it,21 years old today, big fan of those first couple of release.

Tempest- 'Heavy Metal'.

I know nothing about this lot and have never heard of them before but they came up on YouTube on the Cult Metal channel and the artwork looked cool so I gave it a go. Sounds pretty good on first listen. It's from '96 but sounds earlier and definitely would have had me running screaming if I had heard it back then. Kind of slightly techy, proggy heavy metal with cool vocals that remind me of someone and I can't put my finger on who exactly- maybe Wrathchild America? I find a lot of the newer traditional heavy metal bands sound stuck in a Maiden/Priest/Fate rut and more often than not they suck. I wonder if there are many/any contemporary bands taking their cues from this end of the spectrum.

Funeral Chant "Dawn of Annihilation" for the umpteenth time this morning,  as I've had to finish up a review it. Thankfully I'll never have to listen to it again, more boring 80s inspired Necrovore wannabes with no decent riffs.

It'll be the new Low album for the rest of the day after that.

What site/publication are your reviews in?

The Sleeping Shaman.

Mercyful Fate- 'Melissa'. Heavy metal doesn't get much better than this.

Indeed. That and the debut EP are untouchable.

Celtic Frost - Morbid Tales
GrĂ b - Zeitlang

You know what? For some reason I had never listened to the debut EP before but last night I finally listened to the song 'Nuns Have No Fun'. It's so cool. I love the dry production on it too. Going to have to grab a copy when I can.

I think they reissued it recently, on vinyl at least. I know it's included on The Beginning.

Abysmal Grief - Blasphema Secta

In anticipation of the new one, which is released today. I'm hoping the pre-oreders have already been dispatched and its already on the way to me.

Burzum- The first 4. It's made for this weather.
I love getting lost in this stuff.
