Haven't listened to this in a couple of years but was in the mood for just that kind of BM at work this morning. Was just checking there to see if they were still active and I see they had a release last year, so I'm now listening to:

Gherzen - 1881

Bit of an unexpected massive whack of mid-to-late period Rotting Christ off the opening track, will see where it goes. Anyone into them?

I like 1917. I must check out their latest one.

Two deadly dank albums. I'm on a bit of a witchy and weird BM buzz at the moment. Currently spinning Strigoii (Aus) - The Oldest of Blood. Also weird and dank. Azgorh has been releasing some quality stuff the last 10 years.

a few years ago this would've grabbed me but the whole esoteric black metal stuff comes across very 2013 now. If it was a competition for coolest band/album name though, fuck that stuff is good

Esoteric and 2013? Nah. Sounds more like Greece 91/92 with a healthy dose of classic Hammer Horror.

Grave- Fiendish Regression,great album,brilliant songs and production,really underrated.

Burned 2 discs last night. Sepultura live in Barcelona and a compilation of their covers from Blood Rooted and The Roots of Sepultura and I have been fucking hopping off them since.

For years I thought they were old news, but I have to say when they were good they were fucking septic

I slightly prefer Grave Miasma. At the level of greatness both bands have achieved I'm really just splitting hairs.

I have been listening to Kriegsmaschine the past couple of days. They are new to me as are Mgla.
Well I started listen to the latter a few weeks back.
Are they both essentially the same band? The vocalists are the same as far as I can tell. Mgla seem to be more dense sounding.

'Blood Rooted' is kind of obscure even though some of the tracks have appeared elsewhere. I had no idea that there was a track on it with Mike Patton and Jonathan Davis(?!), and another Patton track besides, have never heard them.
