It is top tier. Ride the Lightning, Fade to Black, Creeping Death, and Call of Ktulu are top, top tier  :P

I think I must have gotten a bit tired of it. For a long, long time it was the Smoke on the Water of metaller guitar players, "the riff"

Do you like Infester - To the Depths, in Degradation ?

Do you believe in evil?

I didn't until I listened to this album morning. I am just thankful i didn't listen to it for the first time late at night. A unique album.

I just remember the feeling hearing it live first time. "It's the last time you will...". Dramatic pause and epic kick back in. No band, and no other song has given me more joy at a gig.

New Anthrax album . Out today. Enjoying it so far.

Grave Miasma- Abyss Of Wrathful Deities.

100% fair enough  :abbath:

Sadly, I remember fuck all from first time I saw Metallica.

I must be a big false RtL never clicked with me. Not that I think its bad, mind you. Only one I ever had any time for was puppets, and even at that Ive probably only listened to it a handful of times. Think they just passed me by.

Quote from: Black Shepherd Carnage on September 18, 2026, 11:47:53 AMRide the Lightning, Fade to Black, Creeping Death, and Call of Ktulu are standout tracks. All the other songs are pretty much on a par of slightly lower deadliness.

You missed Fight Fire with Fire, it's pretty much the quintessential 80s thrash song

One of. Kill 'Em All had plenty of equally quintessential 80s thrash songs. Every song on RtL is class, but some are more class than others. Some tracks on it are better than any individual track on MoP, notably. Fight Fire With Fire, though class, is better than no song on MoP. Both Damage Inc. and Battery imo outdo it at its own game. MoP being the better album overall, start to finish.

Same. Even now it's probably my favourite song of theirs to hear live.

Ride The Lightning is a perfect album, it pisses on Master Of Puppets from a height. No duds where MOP has 2. The best 'big 4' album by a mile.

The only 2 duds are yer ears... woop woop!  :P  :abbath:

I will be in the minority and I have said in the controversial opinions thread... but I never got into RTL or MOP.  Indeed I would go as far to say that MOP bores me.  First two songs are great, I love Battery and the title track but then The Song That Should Not Be comes along and I completely lose interest.   Kill 'em All and ...And Justice are great though.

RtL is the first metal album I ever bought with my own money, so holds a special place. Fade to Black is a bit shite by virtue of being played to death, and Escape is obvious filler. Everything else is mint.

That said, I can't remember the last time I listened to it. Puppets sees regular goes still, ...AJfA occasionally.
