Invunche - Atavismo
Blasphemy - Blood Upon the Altar
Incantation - Mortal Throne of Nazarene

Glad there is someone else on here into this album, I have been hooked the past few months, playing it four or five times a week still.

My favourite album of theirs, still gets a spin once a month or so.

Last five for me:

Deathspell Omega (France and Finland) – The Long Defeat (2022, will certainly be on my top ten for the decade, even if it is a huge departure from the previous two phases/styles of this project).

Taake (Norway) – Over Bjoergvin graater himmerik (2002, having listened to the new song, I had to go and stick on his best album).

Falkenbach (Germany) – Ok Nefna Tysvar Ty (2003, I was watching Slow Horses last week, which repeatedly has the same melody as Track 5 here [reworked from the first album], which reminded me that it had been a few years since I indulged in this cheesefest).

Fire Magic (USA) – Memories of Fire (2026, like a mixture of Forefather, very early In Flames, and some of the other Swedish stuff straddling the boundary between black metal and melodic death metal, been playing it a lot over the last few weeks, but I wonder would it have gotten much attention if it came out in the late 90s, considering there was an album like this coming out every month back then).

Kampfar (Norway) – Kampfar (1996, I could hardly put on Taake without putting Kampfar on, the first few releases are the best of their kind, even if they became a snoozefest later on).

Emptiness - Nothing but the Whole

Recent recommendation. 100% up my alley, somewhere between Dolorian and Howls of Ebb, that kind of avant-gardeish zone. Pure class anyway  :abbath:

Will lash that on. Been an age since. Wonder are they still going? Remember they put out an album after this with Twiggy from Marilyn Manson involved in some capacity. That's about all I know about that. Saw them with Antediluvian and Svartidaudi in London about ten years ago. Can't remember if they were good

New album out in two weeks. Back to metal after the experimental album (Vide, which I haven't heard yet). Simon, who recommended Nothing but the Whole to me, plays on the new one.

Right, that answers that. Figured there'd be a Belgian connection to the rec but didn't know Simon was in the band.

Satyricon -Rebel Extravaganza!

Aggressive Perfector - Come Creeping Fiends (wasn't sure about this on the first few listens but it is a real grower for me.
Darkthrone - Pre-Historic Metal
Evergrey - Architects of a New Weave

Had to lash on...Emptiness - Nothing but the Whole (I've not heard a note of Vide, any good?)

Fossilization - Advent of Wounds (this is quality)

Astriferous - Atavistic Unraveling

On my third listen to Vide. I think it's pretty cool. Not metal at all. Bit of Coil, bit of BoC, bit of Ange almost. Definitely an interesting release, not merely a "let's go more poppy" shift out of metal à la Ulver (some of whose non-metal I nevertheless enjoy, just saying this is more interesting, unexpected).

Will spend sometime with it this evening, seems like it could be my kinda thang. Cheers.

Paramaecium - Exhumed of the Earth

Black Sabbath- Seventh Star.
