The sessions were abandoned when the bassist was in a car crash, he never recovered and died a few years later. This is a leak/bootleg.

NP: Tooms: Karst

They were never going to release it as it was unfinished when Chi Cheng had his accident but it got leaked in it's current state during the week so I grabbed a torrent

Invunche - Atavismo
Blasphemy - Blood Upon the Altar
Incantation - Mortal Throne of Nazarene

Alrite, controversial opinion, Bruce Dickinson, arguably the GOAT, can't fault him musically... he's nearly got it all...except he's just not cool, is he?

Few beers deep blasting some Maiden bootlegs from the 80s and his between song banter is tragic, "I don't know anything about football but I'm going to spend every song break talking about football to sound working class".

Now Dianno...he was fucking cool. I'll leave the hall.

Fugazi- Albini Sessions.

Dismember – Indecent And Obscene

Haven't listened to this in years.
Great stuff!

Metallica - Load remastered version.
It sounds huge, little bits and pieces I'd never noticed before.

Gang Green - Can't LIVE Without It & You Got It
Disincarnate - Dreams Of The Carrion Kind

Iron Maiden -  X Factor
               Virtual XI
               Brave New World

This statement might get more of a bite on the controversial opinion thread!

"Scream for me, Long Beach!"

Immortal stage banter. Bruce is untouchable, no matter what 'Arry says.

Savage - Loose 'n' Lethal 9/10
But of an unsung gem From the NWOBHM era, and a good riposte for anyone who dismisses it all as dad rock, this has more of an edge to it than many of its contemporaries, almost proto thrash in its high energy delivery yet always retaining that traditional hard rock style.

Fossilization - Advent of Wounds 8/10
New from the Brazilians and a record that only increases their lurking presence in the putrified pond of underground Death Metal. This is going to make my end of year list I'd imagine, getting better with every spin.

Reversed - Widow Recluse 7.5/10
The Canadians announced themselves in 2018 with this arachnid themed demo that impressed in all its reckless thrashing abandon. Vinyl pick up, love the cover.

Dimmu Borgir - Grand Serpent Rising 7.5/10
Parted way with Dimmu and their overwrought symphonics many freezing moons ago but I picked this up cheap and it's not been fucked out the window at all, there's definitely been a dialling back of the pomp and circumstance, (very) relatively speaking, a little more focus on the riffs and  the meat and bones of the tracks, it's waaay too long of course, nothing new there, it's not Dimmu without the overindulgence but..yeah, so far..I think my window is staying shut.

Cancer - Shadow Gripped 7/10
2018 return that worked quite well as a throwback to their gory days rather than heralding any bright new chapter for the band. Album cover sucks, looks more like a Belphegor effort. Yeah, I think this is scraping a 7 for me these days after initial apathy.

Barbarian - Viperface 6/10
Haven't nabbed this year's release from these Italian troglodytes but I imagine it's not wildly advanced from this clattering, retrograde black thrash ,  like having an army of Orcs and rivetheads  come to smash up all your Dream Theater lps.

I have a distinct memory of listening to that on the train on the way to a gig (followed by Warrel Dane's posthumous album), but I can't remember anything about the album itself, aside from a track title (Ball Cutter) and that I thought it was OK. As you said, nothing new but it did the job.

I haven't listened to it since though.
