Devin Townsend: The Moth

I'm only 5 or 6 mins. into it but so far it's awful. If ever a lad needed a slap...

I've only listened once and it's quite dense, but am a bit disappointed given how long it's been in the works. It's constantly changing and in that sense is aurally never boring, but with Devin I just want some good melodies and hooks. Dark Matters had many of the same problems and I consider that he weakest album. Also, the cover is uncharacteristically horrid.

Blaze - Silicon Messiah
Iron Maiden - Powerslave
Iron Maiden - Piece of Mind
Motorhead - Sacrifice
Warlord - The Lost Archangel

New Model Army- No Rest For The Wicked. Payday tomorrow. I think I'll have to lob a little order their way  8)

Rougarou - Rougarou

Fulgur et Morte - Devourer of Light

Ozzy Osbourne - Bark at the Moon

I can't even bring myself to put it on yet.  I can't deal with the cycle of grief every time just to come to terms with how bad the album is any more

Junon - "The Golden Citadel of the Astral Sphere"
Black metal but they come at it all wrong and it sounds great for it.  Nothing outlandish in the genre but great songs, ideal production, ripping all the way through, can't fault it.  Loose but not ragged, dissonant but not obfuscated for it, worth a spin.

Nice artwork on Junon. I have a very brief listen there and it sounds like something I'll need to give a full listen to tonight.

Ancients - Heart of Oak
Midnight Force - Restless Blade
Spectral Wound - Songs of Blood and Mire
Darkthrone - A Blaze in the Northern Sky.
Mist - Free Me of the Sun

Incantation - Blasphemy 9/10
It's got some serious competition but I'm pretty sure at this stage this is my favourite , my version here not having the tedious 23 min outro so yeah, I'm good for the 9. Title track alone is killer.

Penance - Parallel Corners 8/10
Seeing as they got some love here lately, these Troubled doomslingers (born from the remnants of Dream Death) with their second l.p. The band had recently moved to Century Media from Lee Dorian's Rise Above. Big Time Charlies.

Cannibal Corpse - Violence Unimagined 8/10
2021 and Rutan on board, C.C. delivered, as they invariably do, an absolute mauling here. Sure I'd like Corpsegrinder to shut up once in a while and let the music breathe a little but I probably won't stand up and tell him.

Exhumed - Red Asphalt 8/10
Fair play to Exhumed for trying something different here, a car crash themed album being, to my ears, viscerally more horrific than any satanic/supernatural bullshit (No Mille, Satan is not real). Bangin' set of tunes too , one of the DM highlights of the year so far.

Pestilence - Hadeon 7.5/10
While Pestilence went about setting their bar pretty low post-Spheres
this is probably the pick of the bunch; punchy, energetic and any remaining proggy, djent aspirations have been well and truly flattened by a very much back to basics set of thrashy Pestideath. That'll do me thanx Pat.

Dequisitor - Dequisitor 7/10
Chaotic Immo/Inca styled Danish Death Metal debut from 2016, haven't managed or really tried to snag any of their albums since. Any improvements on this?
