It was pronounced 'mellow-jun' any time I heard it said but I always thought it was based on the melodeon, the yoke that looks like an accordion?

That's my understanding too but I'm familiar with the mell-OH-jun pronunciation.

Either way, glad to see the word the word get a good outing.
