https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0YSOLTSAUHs had this Live set taped off the radio for ages before I actually got a copy of Doomsday itself (I got NPFD first), and it's lethal

Doomsday for the Deceiver on now to see what he fuss is about. Way better than I expected it to sound going from the first song. Really fucking cool vocals! It's so catchy.

Also giving it a whirl. Not bad, to be fair.

New Model Army - random stuff on YouTube. Was familiar with the name via the Paradise Lost autobiography. And that there was a gig in Bradford in the last year or so featuring local bands done good, so New Model Army, PL and....Terrorvision.

I'm giving Flotsam a lash here, Doomsday is pretty good. Name of the band always put me off. I'm sure that's been mentioned a few times previously.

New Model Army and Flotsam and Jetsam  :-[

I'd never heard a note of NMA until today, despite knowing the name forever, and the comparisons I heard on here were good enough for me to check them out. Good man McLove for mentioning them.

NMA are great. Thunder and Consolation is their best imo. It's a bit folkier than The Ghost of Cain, but it has some cracking tunes.

51st State  :abbath:  What a fucking tune

I gave No Rest a quick listen the other night, really enjoyed it. I have that, Vengeance and The Ghost Of Cain lined up to give a proper listen to when I have a couple of hours.

They sound nothing like I'd imagined, I'd thought they sounded like The Levellers for some reason. NMA had a folk/punk kind of image I suppose and maybe that's where I got my wires crossed. Pleasantly surprised.

Atmospheric Black Metal based on The Silmarillion mythos beautifully crafted and evocative of it's themes.

I really enjoyed this album, just has such a good flow and so well put together.   I might give it an 8.

Have that Aggressor Protector ordered as well.

As for my own listening I'm also on a bit of a thrash kick at the moment.

Forbidden - Forbidden Evil
Flotsam & Jetsam - Doomsday for the Deceiver

Hehe it was your mentions of it that spurred me on to eventually pick it up.

Die Krupps - A Tribute to Metallica

Cat melodeon but I feel I need to see it out. But, yeah, just awful.

 I've never seen cat melodeon written before, this is the official spelling so!

It's terrible. Think I only listened to it once. That was enough.

Are we all happy to proceed with that spelling of melodeon? A word often spoken but never written.

I always imagined it 'malodgen' , must say it to the daughter today to see the look she gives me.

It was pronounced 'mellow-jun' any time I heard it said but I always thought it was based on the melodeon, the yoke that looks like an accordion?

No idea why it came to mind listening to Die Krupps but it felt apt 😂
