Dawnbringer: Nucleus

Such a rousing album.

Started this this morning. Sounds great so far. Didn't particularly care for the first track released but in the mood for it today.

Got through this and started it again. It's savage. Main riff in the first tune is very similar to an Immolation riff from, I think, Dawn of Possession. Can't place it exactly. Slightly annoying but I'll probably get over it.

There's definitely a bit that reminds of of part of  "Burial Ground" if that's the one. Yeah, it's really satisfying overall - like I said, hits the Infester/"Cromlech" era DT/Thou Shalt Suffer spots for me, can hear some "Dawn of Possession" in there for sure. I love how it sounds most of all though, perfect raw but clear mix that sounds like they recorded a particularly good rehearsal and overdubbed a few bits. Demo level but meaty.

Those vocals are ridiculous. Funnily enough there's a sort of screamy bit with a load of reverb in it about 5 minutes into that first tune that of all things make me think of "River Euphrates" by the Pixies

Funereal Presence- Achatius.

Blut Aus Nord: Ethereal Horizons

Sublime.

Duindwalder- In Het Heemskerks Duin

Animalize - Verminateur
At the Gates - Terminal Spirit Disease
Devil Master - Ecstasies of Never Ending Light
Domkraft - Domkraft

Black Sabbath ‎– Born Again

Fake Dust - Decrepitizing Din Of The Cerebral Psyopticon(Terrible album name but fuck me, this is the high bar for grind for this year. Absolutely wild. Makes Insect Warfare seem like Westlife.)
Group Think - demo 2025 (more grind from the same scene I think, not quite as unhinged but not far off)

Om – Pilgrimage

I love the way 'Unitive Knowledge Of The Godhead' comes in after the gentle/meditative 1st track

Released 19 years ago!

My Heart, An Inverted Flame - Whispers in a Dead Language

Don't really know much about this band, give it a spin as it popped up via Crucial Blast today, and so far so good.

Very dark, slow and eerie proggy instrumental music that seems to be just synths and drums. Not metal but definitely heavy, and if you enjoy things like Neurosis, Unholy, Mutterlein, Winter etc it shares the feel and mood of that kinda stuff (doesn't sound like them though) this is well worth your time. Really cool.

Intriguing. I'll check it out.
