Love that album too. Have talked about it a ton on here before but yeah reiterating that the production is a big part of what makes it for me and it suits the music perfectly.  Never knew he regretted it.

The production makes perfect sense but it took me a long time to get into it for its sterility.

Eternal Champion - Ravening Iron

Degraved lp. Generic as fuck, but for whatever reason it's hitting the spot a lot more than many other similar bands.

I'm incredibly sceptical of prog metal (thanks, Dream Theater) despite being well deep in the rabbit hole of prog and metal.

I've only just discovered this band's existence. This hits everything that is good craic about both prog and metal and leaves out the nonsense I'd come to associate with prog metal, really walking a tightrope. No, not every riff is a 10/10 at all and there's a few dodgy vocal choices, but jesus it's an enjoyable listen all the same.

Possessed - Seven Churches

Great band. Not all perfect as you said, but passionate and true.

Only ever really dug into "Dead Revolution" with Hammers of Misfortune properly, must rectify that sometime.

Converge - the new one. Eh. It's more Converge, I guess.

Necrophagist - Onset of Putrefaction, Epitaph. Two of the best albums ever committed to tape. Still hoppin' mad over two decades later they had to pull out of supporting Nile and Dying Fetus in Whelan's (I think - my tour t-shirt says "Rockworld", but that was also the name of the venue in Leeds or somewhere) when I saw them.

Potentiam - Balsyn
