Fuck, I think I've just enjoyed the new Kreator .
Maybe it's the lowered expectations or finally acceptance that this is what they are now but..jesus, I did, I listened to the whole thing with only a couple of flinches (last song definitely)  :o  And even more warm fuzzy feelings towards them for throwing the whole thing up on their YouTube channel straight away. Damn. We luv u Millie  :-*

I listened to one single from the Kreator album and decided to remove it from the shopping list.  Must give it a listen.

Gojira - Magma
Dream Theater - A View From the Top of the World (didn't think this was any good on release and the passage of time hasn't improved it any for me).
Be'lakor - Coherence
Therion - Leviathan II (another dodgy purchase)

Panopticon - Kentucky
                      Roads to the North
                      Autumn Eternal
The Scars of Man on the Once Nameless Wilderness
                       ...and Again into the Light

I never paid much attention to Panopticon but then I'm only really discovering a lot of black metal in recent years, having dismissed the majority in the mid-'90s. I just picked two at random for a listen later (debut and Social Disservices), should be interesting.

Theurgion - All Under Heaven 7.5/10
Gothic Rock/Doom debut out on Profound Lore last year ,reminiscent of Brave Murder Day in places, vocals can be a bit hit and miss depending on how crooning goth you like to go.

Temptress - Catch The Endless Dawn 7.5/10
Dying Victims pick up from last year, the debut from Italy's Temptress, melodic, catchy and grounded in the working class charm and ethos of the NWOBHM, there's a lot to like here in their organic early eighties sound.

Lucille - Dawn of Destruction 7/10
And the award for least evil, threatening or violent band name doing the rounds in Thrashland at the moment goes to these Polish upstarts, another Dying Victims debut from last year, a homage to early Slayer/Kreator and while certainly no envelopes were pushed or harmed in any way in the making of this album, would I shell out for the next one? Yep.

Vertebra - The Same 7/10
Not sure about the band name ( or the album title for that matter) but this is some primetime latter era Death from Brazil out on Xtreem Records last year. I'll take this over Gruesome who still don't sit right with me with their virtually A.I. approach to honouring Chuck.

Soilwork - Sworn To A Great Divide 4/10
Picking blind from the shelves and committing to a spin can be a real pain in the ass sometimes, the Swede's pop metal ( It's not melodeath, there's nothing deathly about Soilwork, the Reaper won't have this stuff on his headphones when he comes calling) seventh outing offering lttle of substance here.

Deathraiser - Forged In Hatred
Did these boys just rewrite Beneath The Remains, I mean, like Gruesome, this goes beyond reverence and into near A.I. territory (Territory  8) ),

Funeral- Opus Satani Excelsi.

The vocalist is an absolute ringer for Chuck around the ITP/Symbolic era, this is good stuff. Some lovely bass playing too

Species - Changelings
Black Rainbows - Twilight in the Desert
Guns N Roses -  Appetite for Destruction
Evoken - Embrace the Emptiness
