Ethereal Shroud - Trisagion

This album is absolutely outstanding. Gay Spotify blurb aside, the ability and songwriting nous this cunt has beggars belief. 20 minute choon goes by like a breath of wind. Phenomenal.

Special album, agreed. I haven't checked out yer man's earlier stuff, or indeed his other projects. Have you?

Dipped into a bit on Spotify, it's all good so far.

The track 'disincarnate' from the album in question is so epic and doesn't get boring for a second. Unreal hai.

Regular rotation lately has been:

Cave In - "Heavy Pendulum"
Blut Aus Nord - "Disharmonium - Undreamable Abysses"
Mizmor & Thou - "Myopia"
Depeche Mode - "Music For The Masses"
Helms Alee - "Keep This Be The Way"
Deathspell Omega - "The Long Defeat"
Full of Hell - "Trumpeting Ecstasy"
FACS - "Present Tense"

Had been hopping off the second half of that list for a while regularly but the top 4 wormed their way in for more than a quick spin over the last week or two - in particular that Blut Aus Nord album is excellent, absolutely leathering black metal but very spacious, waves of guitar.

Did any of you bucks who have been listening to the new one from The Chasm pick up a physical copy and if so, where?

No physical release yet.

Oh right, that explains my futile  search then.  Someone will have to get on it, it's  excellent.

Obscura - Diluvium/Akroasis

One of the few bands for me that have a faultless discography, so far at least

Requiem- Nunc et Sempere.

I can't recommend this enough. It sounds like an obscure NWOBHM record... from Italy. A bit of Pagan Altar, a bit of very early Maiden, some of that Paul Chain rawness/ darkness. It's so good.

Zemial- Sleeping Under Tartarus.
Penance- Parallel Corners.
Incitatus- Demo 1994.
Arcturus- Aspera Hiems Symphonia.

I feel Retribution is more formative than a classic, but they've never put a foot wrong for sure.

I didn't expect much from Akroasis due to 75% of the band changing, but how wrong I was. Sebastian Lanser's drumming in particular on those two albums is astonishing.

I don't enjoy David Diepold's drumming on A Valediction as much, but that's more a matter of taste than his skill. His footwork is possibly the tightest and fastest I've ever heard.

Peter Gabriel: Growing Up Live - watching the DVD TBH. One of the best live shows I've ever seen/heard.

Evil Invaders - Shattering Reflection

These boyz have reinvented themselves a bit it seems, incorporating a
lot  more straight up Metal into their thrash attack and what a belter they've slung out here. Check this out if you're into the likes of Judas Priest, Savatage, Razor, King Diamond, Agent Steel...

Artificial Brain - Artificial Brain

This video popped up on my YT of a recent Metallica show, have to say Hetfield sounds in great form, haven't heard him sound this aggressive in a long time.
