It is amazing with the plethora of social media platforms out there that people have to troll on, someone manages to find the time to troll a small metal forum.

Err, no trolling going on here, I fucking love Chic. Juggz will vouch for this, he loves them too

Most heads on here have a pretty eclectic and varied taste in music, so someone with a boner for disco shouldn't be surprising.
Right on. I'd add the Diana Ross s/t to that and say "Five of the best..." and bring it on-topic by mentioning Led Zeppelin asked Tony Thompson to be the guy who sat in for Bonham at Live Aid (alongside Phil Collins) 😂

Anyway...

Funny you should say that, I had no interest in them until I heard "All We Love.." so then I tried the older albums and I still don't get most of it, despite the protestations of Ochoill
You'd want to give YFM a better go so

So far today:
Iron Maiden - Iron Maiden
Faith No More - The Real Thing
Sepultura - Quadra

I knew the Juggzulator would have my back on this  Agree about the Diana Ross record.

Wasn't Thompson supposed to get the reformed Zepp gig before they decided not to go ahead with it?

I've always been curious about the popularity of certain bands/artists to folks into metal. I've met bunch of people deep into metal that are into Depeche Mode. Ditto Dead Can Dance and Bauhaus (and Bella Lugosi's Dead seems to be a frequently covered song). Exchanged the 'metal nod' at a Tori Amos gig once with someone in a Slayer t-shirt (I was wearing a Nile tee).

I just love the majority of 80s and 90s music, and always had to play it down in metal contexts for fear of being bullied for it.

DM in particular has the same spirit of pushing sonic boundaries and their cold depressed synth stuff from the 80s is as valid a representation of the end of the 20th century as german thrash, or norse black metal.

Played on the right system music for the masses can sound pretty heavy and grim and 'metal'... Their songwriting is often great and nearly never poor, and the visuals, the lyrics, the stage show, all first rate
