Type O - October Rust + World Coming Down. The oppressive weight of that riff in Everything Dies. Wowsers, every time.

One of their best tracks, maybe the best.

With Cult Of Luna, Salvation is the only one I come back to. Stunning album, none of their others reach those heights for me.

Salvation is such an absorbing album. It's the sort that's perfect for a late night drive.
Somewhere Along The Highway is it's equal for me. Vertikal as a huge let down.

Terror - One With The Underdogs.
Paradise Lost - In Requiem
Temple Of Scorn - Funeral Altar Epiphanies.

I'd still love another IO album,  probably my favourite of that wave of bands

Scorpion Milk- Slime of the Times
Surprised there's no real talk about this here

Had heard about it but forgot until earlier on. Have it lined up but yet to listen.

A late night bus journey to Galway with Salvation in the Discman still sticks out for me. Perfect for that.

SATH was the big letdown for me, inevitable after Salvation being so good. From Eternal Kingdom on I've just found them dull TBH.

It's good. Definitely more punk than post punk, bang of Killing Joke and Samhain off it. Certainly meaner than Beastmilk.

Ya, I got Killing Joke and Danzig. Got about 4 tracks in. Same as Beastmilk, it does everything right and sounds great but just doesn't interest me.

I typically prefer instrumental post-metal but Cult of Luna are worth the odd spin. I think I prefer the later stuff, think they became more refined in their song-writing.

Re: Type O, I still rank Wolf Moon no.1. Another one with absolute heft when it kicks in. Jaysus they were mighty at that.

Carcass -Necroticism.
Borknagar -The olden Domain.
Death -Spiritual Healing.
My Dying Bride - A line of deathless Kings.
Ajattara -Itse.

Really enjoying this big whiff of KJ good stuff!

I never dug into Killing Joke or even Danzig that much, so to me it sounds 100% like Beastmilk. Maybe with slightly more prominent original British punk influences here and there in the guitar parts and sonic shape, but the vocal is pure McNerny to my ears.

If you haven't, check out the 1980 (?) self titled Killing Joke album. It's feckin sabbij.

Yeah the vocals are unmistakably his, however it's more the overall vibe and sound in the music that take influence from KJ.

:abbath:  That and the later self-titled are the only albums by them I know, the latter only because it came out while I was working in either Golden Discs or Music City.

I am not familiar with the other self titled. Must get on it.
