I had the first four on CD-R back when they came out, hit and miss I thought. Right time, right mood maybe. Oceanic is untouchable though, I'm still annoyed at myself for not liking it on first listen.

Aura Noir: Black Thrash Attack

Nitzer Ebb - That Total Edge, Belief & Ebbhead
Front 242 - Tyranny (For You)
Satyricon - Dark Medieval Times
Enslaved - Vikingligr veldi
Darkthrone - It Beckons Us All.......
Coffin Storm - Arcana Rising

Slayer - Divine Intervention

Persefone - Metanoia/Spiritual Migration
Inferi - Of Sunless Realma
Savatage - Gutter Ballet

Slayer - Undisputed Attitude, grand for the most part, apart from the stupid Stooges cover.
Sepultura- Chaos AD, laughably bad, the Godzilla roaring sound effects

One for the controversial opinions thread, but this is my number two Slayer album (after RiB).

NP - Defeated Sanity - "Passages Into Deformity". Defo one to file on the "feral animal of a record" shelf.

Svartidaudi- Flesh Cathedral. Just not that interesting to me. They were really good live but I never really connected with the recordings and today is no different.

Rebirth of Nefast- Tabernaculum. I haven't put this on in ages and it still stands up. Huge, ambitious, varied, dynamic, every riff sticks in your head and draws you into its dark atmosphere. A masterpiece. I'm assuming there's a new one on the way at some point.

Slidhr- White Hart!  Pure fucking might. Pure fucking spite. A high watermark alongside Ex-Nihilio. Superb.

#5 for me, but RIB is #4.

Fear Factory: Demanufacture

It turned 30 yesterday, colour me FUCKING OLD.

Demanufacture was such a big deal in 95. Cool album but I'm not sure how much mileage it would give me today.

Still one of my favourites, it still sounds perfect to me.

Hypocrisy: The Fourth Dimension

I bought Demanufacture on cassette when it came out. I used to think  the fact that those cassettes were black instead  of clear plastic made them and me cooler.
It turns out no colour cassette could have helped me.
Still think Demanufacture, Obsolete and Soul Of  A New Machine hold up.

Cult Of Luna - Somewhere Along The Highway.
Gjendød - All the albums. The fourth is a dessert island disc for sure.

Judas Iscariot - Dethroned, Conquered and Forgotten
Dimmu Borgir/Old Man's Child - Devil's Path/In the Shades of Life
Hate Forest - Against All Odds
Iron Maiden - Maiden England '88

Sijjin- Sumerain Promises

Affliction Vector - Contra Hominem

Contottiere - Vengeance Burns Our Hearts (Demo)

Phantom - Tyrants Of Wrath 7/10
Second album from these manic thrashing Mexicans, a lengthy one for this style at nearly 50 minutes but it's quality with a little quirkiness here and there throughout making it one to return to for sure. If you're looking for some new hi-octane blackened thrash you could do a lot worse this year.

Sadus - A Vision Of Misery 8.5/10
1990 and Steve DiGiorgio is back with his homies bringing with him some very obvious influences from his stint with Death (which he would go on to rejoin). You can't go wrong with first three Sadus, this being the most brutally technical and progressive of them all.

Necromantia - To The Depths We Descend 8/10
A farewell to founding member Baron Blood released in '21, six excellent new tracks of the band's horror tinged Black Metal and two re-recordings from their debut. A final poignant offering from the Greek BM progenitors.

Schizophrenia - Recollections Of The Insane 6/10
Death Thrash debut from the Belgians that falls between two (or three) stools and still isn't hooking me. I think it's largely down to the lack of personality of variation to the vocals which do nothing to enhance the character of individual tracks here.

Schizophrenia - Live From The Abyss 5/10
Recording from Graspop in 2023 and I'm really struggling now. Added to the modern, hyper aggressive and thoroughly tedious vocals we now have in between song banter which basically consists of fuck, fucking, motherfucker and all that other American mall-rat jibber-jabber sure to leave me reaching for the fuck the fuck off button.

Blood Revolt - Indoctrine 8/10
In 2010 Nemtheanga got down with the Axis Of Advance maniacs to go all urban guerrilla warfare on our asses.
Surreal ,even jarring at times, to hear that familiar lamenting croon juxtaposed with these blitzkrieg guitars and punishing drum patterns but this remains a highlight of our boy's discography for me.
