Quote from: Giggles on November 03, 2024, 03:01:55 PMI never listened to St. Anger all the way through, so I played the last 2 songs off the album for shits and giggles.

Except there were no giggles. They really went out of their way to make themselves sound as bad as possible.

Purify could have been a decent song maybe, I like the energy of it, but all the instruments just sound awful. The lyrics read like an abandoned word association game. The song finishes and then there's a 1 min groove which is kind of cool.

The final track 'All Within My Hands' gave me second hand embarrassment listening to Hetfield screaming "Kill kill kill". It's over 8 minutes long, stretched out with some unnecessarily painful feedback at the very end, a real slap in the face for anybody who actually listened to the album in its entirety!

I went to the local cd shop (heartbeat City) first thing in the morning to pick the thing up. What an awful bumming I took that day

I remember the release was pushed forward as it had leaked. Was on the way to Dublin to see Sepultura in TBMC the same day. One of the lads insisted we stop so he could buy a copy. He did. Think we lasted four songs before it was turned off.

Double shitter for me mate as we were gonna do the "country bumpkins in the Big Smoke, off to blow all our money in decent record shops" thing, and he was down the price of that turd.

ICED EARTH - Burnt Offerings
IRON MAIDEN - Killers
XENTRIX - Shattered Existence

Tribulation:Sub Rosa In Aeturnum. It's absolutely deadly. Loads of Sisters Of Mercy bits and a bit of Dave Vanian too!

Iron Maiden - Seventh Son
Blood Incantation - Absolute Elsewhere (since LP delivery is apparently indefinitely delayed, have gone back to streaming this... boo!)
Gehenna - First Spell
The Cure - Songs of a Lost World

Edit: Must make a note to check out that new Tribulation tomorrow, the one single I heard was great.

Yeah I really digged the early songs released on bandcamp. I meant to pick this up at the weekend when it was released so will have to rectify asap.

Good reason for not getting on the case sooner though - I can't stop playing Iotunn's Kinship

The new Iotunn is epic.   Been enjoying it myself.

The Gates of Slumber - The Wretch
Possessed - Seven Churches
Cirith Ungol - Frost and Fire

Shadows Fall - The War Within
Entombed - Left Hand Path
Metallica - Ride The Lightning
Paradise Lost - Obsidian

Mourning Beloveth- The Sullen Sulcus. Timeless.

Dead Congregation - Graves of the Archangels, Promulgation of the Fall, Sombre Doom

Decided to throw on the rest of the DC discography after listening to Purifying Consecrated Ground yesterday for the first time in years. Mighty stuff.

Great band, heard they're back together and working on new stuff. Not sure if there'll be much touring with two of the lads in Anthrax and Overkill but they were always brilliant live

Poison - Open Up & Say Ahh

Cathedral - "The Last Spire"
Shrinebuilder - "Shrinebuilder"
