Weird one, found The Olden Domain LP by Borknagar double wedged in a plastic sleeve, with no recollection of buying it or ever having any interest in Borknagar. First spin now and not sure how I feel about it, maybe it's a grower.

It's a grower definitely. Cool album. Not as ferocious as the debut, not as progressive as the later stuff. It's more folky in places but it's a cool album.

Unblessed Divine - Portal To Darkness. This is very good. A bit polished but great songs. Some parts feel like a nod to Soul Of A New Machine but in a roundabout way.

Celestial Sanctuary - "Insatiable thirst for torment"

Heavy and cruel, modern and fairly polished DM stuff.  Way better than I was expecting going in, satisfying riffs abound.

Hmm..all that "New Wave of British Death metal" stuff can eat shit  Coffin Mulch get a pass but the rest of it..ugh..

Canadian Death metal however I'm OK with so this morning was the Coprolith and Incinerous demos. Finnish and Swedish copycats respectively, but both at a higher level than the usual.

It's not something I normally go for at all but this clicked with me.  It's generally the cleanness of that style that puts me off and there's certainly nothing new on there but it is done well.  I am very out of the DM loop mind so might try out those two demos you mentioned above while I am im the form for it all.

Deviant Process - "Paroxysm", "Nurture".

Voidceremony - "Threads of Unknowing".

Crowbar - "Broken Glass", "Time Heals Nothing".

Tears for Fears - "The Hurting", "Songs form the Big Chair"

Crown Lands - "Fearless". This is blatant late 70s/early 80s era Rush worship that is several light-years wide of the mark

Coffin Mulch suck as well.

That tag fucks me off as well, jingoistic bullshit for a scene with more quantity than identity . It was the "New Wave of Uk Hardcore" a few years back and that was generic bullshit as well. I'd say there's something of a crossover no doubt. You'd think they'd at least look towards their own innovations over the years rather than just copying the yanks/Swedes.

The potato withholding bastards.

Ya, everytime, they try and market they subpar, clone bands as the second coming of metal. Always shite. I've skipped most of them but Coffin Mulch certainly seemed rooted in hardcore to me. Not into it.

Just finished this and enjoyed it:

The Coffin mulch vocals put me off!

Vacuous my favourite of the newer UKDM bands!

Cerebral Fix - Tower Of Spite 6/10

I forgot New Wave Of American Heavy Metal was a brief thing that Metal Hammer was obsessed with for a while too until I read these posts lol

Yep. Another example. Cuntish.
