Quicksand Dream - 'Aelin- A Story About Destiny' CD arrived today.

First time being in Limerick when Steamboat is open and lost the run of myself, picking up a bunch of 70s / 80s LPs.
Whitesnake, Dokken, Scorpions and more.
Just couldn't help myself.

Thankfully the missus wasn't with me and the car was only round the corner, so quickly stashed without being noticed    ;D

Kalmah-Palo. Was always threatening to explore their discography and £6.20 plus free postage was too good to turn down. Very impressed so far. As typically Finnish as you can get.

Godsend- 'In the Electric Mist' CD

On a bit of a Holy Records buzz lately?

Been listening to As the Shadows Fall a bit over the past weeks. Has some good moments on there, though theres one track towards the end that's total early 90's acoustic jingle jangle that really jars with the pretty decent trad doom that surrounds it.

The digital version also as the demo versions of a few tracks which have much more of a blatant forest of equilibrium vibe to them.

Haha yeah, Holy and Witchhunt buzz go tobann! That demo is included on a bonus disc but I haven't had a listen yet, but 'Forest of Equilibrium' worship sounds good to me. I know the song you are tm referring to towards the end of the album.  It's like if Silverchair caught BSE by snorting a Days of the New CD  So bad. I think around half of the album veers heavily into cheapo grunge, but the good parts make up for it.

Christ! Silverchair. Almost forgot they even existed.... I even thought Australia as a country had expunged them from the records.

I'm not to familiar with Into the Electric mist, but As the Shadows Fall definitely has that general Holy Records ropey, not quite sure what it is quality to it. That's part of the charm I suppose.  Even has one of those early 90's sky w/tree silhouette covers with default system font logo on it.

I see the two albums have been pressed to Vinyl recently.... Might have to put in an order.

'Into the Electric Mist' sounds fucking awful but I only gave it the most glancing listen after I'd ordered it. Maybe it'll grow on me but they seem to have gone full grunge (bad grunge that is).

I like the ropiness of a lot of that Holy stuff. It sounds like the bands are really trying to do something original and it doesn't always come off perfectly. But yeah, there's charm in it. As I've said here before, there is a blandness or safeness in a lot of modern bands; the pervading sheen of professionalism is a bit boring. Give me a bit of shoddiness!
