Outrageous things you've witnessed at gigs/festivals

Slipknot getting bottled off stage at Fury Fest in 2004. Just an endless barrage from when their backdrop went up until the very end where Paul Gray stood on the stage on his own and invited people up to fight. I've never seen such intense hatred towards a band. We were waiting for it to get really out of hand and making plans to leg it in case it did. Terrorizer did an article on it after and called it a riot. It wasn't a riot but if they didn't get off stage it might have turned into one.

Ya was at that. Some sight to behold. They did a sound check earlier in the day and ran over so everyone's set got cut by 5 to 10 mins hence the backlash.

At monsters of rot in enniskillen a buck was wearing a nappy as he said he pissed himself so much it was just easier to wear one. Probably right but looked ridiculous.

I went to see Behemoth and a bunch of random Polish bands in the Camden Underworld in the early 2000s , halfway through some crusty lad wanders up to the infamous pillar ,blazes up and then proceeds to bed down and have a kip. He stayed there sleeping undisturbed by the dozens of people moshing around him for at least a couple of bands.
Oh and seeing a yoked out tranny fingerbang some girl at the bar during Cryptopsy /Cattle Decapitation gig in the Pint a few years ago always makes me laugh .

Funnily enough when Behemoth played at Vicar Street last year there was a lad in the back corner to the right of the stage who completely missed the set because he was fast asleep.

Went to Leeds festival every year when I was in college and there were some apocalyptic events there. Saw a girl who'd fallen through the long-drop toilets covered in shit one year, then a full-scale riot the next where a load of first aid tents and maintenance vans were burnt out. Security were all loyalists from Belfast and showed no mercy, the next morning there was a load of banging on the perimeter fence and some lads were shouting through to us saying they'd been kicked around the back of a Land Rover and driven out to the middle of nowhere. The next morning the place was a sea of melted tents with black smoke everywhere and security were still charging the place hammering anybody who put a foot wrong.

On a lighter note, it isn't a gig but a few years ago a couple of us back home went on an all-day session (I was drinking triple whiskey and sambuca before 11am), then to watch an indy wrestling show. My mate, who always gets too proud and emotional when he drinks, took umbrage with something one of the 'heel' wrestlers said to the crowd after a match. I turned to his soon-to-be-wife (now soon-to-be-divorcee) and said, "Don't worry, I've known him 30 years, he won't do anything stupid," then looked back at the ring to see him nose-to-nose with the wrestler. Security obviously dived in sharpish and he was banned for life.

The last couple of years I have noticed a steady influx of girls at metal shows-which I fully support. However a lot of them think they are at a rave they way they move to the music. I think it was enslaved in the Tivoli where I saw some young one gyrating and moving her hands like she was at Tiesto. That wasn't an isolated case either.

No way, that's insane, a woman dancing to music, what will they think of next?

Probably Charlie Sheen at the Slash gig in the Olympia a couple of years back. He came out at the start, tells a few jokes, introduces the band etc. Me and a mate are on the far left side of the first row of the upstairs seats, about 10 minutes into the gig the door opens to the private box to the left of us, a couple of people pile in and Sheen is with them.

I'm not one to care about celebrities but having Charlie Sheen five feet away from you spend over two hours coked off his absolute face dancing in a little box like a madman while the young wan next to him (who turned out to be a pornstar) looks completely pissed off like she's babysitting him was a pretty fucking unique gig experience.

This was like peak tiger blood era Charlie Sheen too  .

I was at Sigur Ros in The Olympia around 2005. Happily sipping a pint and waiting for them to come on. I wasn't a big fan of theirs (still not) but the person I went with was mad into them. The lights went down, the lads start up. After a few minutes;

"Let's get a bit closer to the front."

"Right so" says I spotting a gap to make a path "Argh-hey-aaaaaah-fuuuuuuck!".

Next thing I know, I'm on the ground looking up. Bounced shoulder first onto the floor. I'd fallen over a fella wearing a brown duffle coat, brown corduroy pants and brown brogues (he looked like a sepia photograph) with a backpack on who was kneeling down, kneeling fucking down, in the middle of the standing area. Next to him was a peak-emo girl (mid-00s remember) also kneeling down and stroking your man's hair.

"What in the fuck?! What are you doing?!"

"He's actually writing poetry? This is how he gets inspired?" 

"Poetry! I just nearly broke my fucking neck! Could he not wear a hi-viz jacket or something at least?"

She waved me away.

About 10 minutes later I heard "Arrrrgh-good Jaysis!" and then a splash from behind me. Followed by "Bleedin' poetry?!"
