Quote from: The Great Cull on December 20, 2024, 04:15:03 PMIn what must be the worst year ever for new releases for me, I think only the new Anciients and Nails albums are worth a mention at all.

It's not metal but I do like the new Cure album too. It's been a year of slim pickings though.
Yeah it was poor enough, there was some ok albums but I struggled to pick out some this year compared to last year.

I wouldnt have mind seeing them but the new album didnt really stick, has its moments in parts but nowhere near as good as Spiritual Healing.

Quote from: Polaris on December 15, 2024, 09:15:43 AMMy understanding is that Aaron's daughter has been long over the worst of that, although it no doubt took a lot out of him. Basically, over recent years Aaron and Andrew have drifted apart in different ways and communication was poor. They just finished an album this year and one of them agreed to various gigs and appearances (Andrew I suspect), and then Aaron, who also likely has access to the official email account put cold water on them after they were booked. One American festival (Maryland I think) got nervous with the poor communication and cancelled their appearance, which Andrew didn't seem happy with. Regardless of the rights and wrongs, it was all highly unprofessional. Somewhat bizarrely, Aaron recently did full vocals on another album, produced by Gregor from Paradise Lost, and has since toured with them. Andrew still wants to tour, and likely needs to pay off recording debt, and got a new vocalist. Right now, everything between them is on ice, and they likely know they need each other. I get the feeling their problem isn't with each other as such, so everything might be smoothened over in time. But it's weird.
Sound!

I see they've announced a gig but without Aaron,Mikko Kotamäki from Swallow the Sun will be doing vocals.
Anyone know what's going on with them as they cancelled lots of gigs as they needed a break but are now back?

Quote from: John Kimble on November 23, 2024, 07:04:44 PMAustralia will be a much tougher prospect, I've no doubt the win against England has them on a bit of a high.
Joe Smit knows this Irish team too.

Quote from: Eoin McLove on November 19, 2024, 08:17:15 PMI'm in love with the new Cure album. It's so good. Phenomenal.
Its an absolute masterpiece.

Is it a masterpiece if there's one not great song on it,  ie. DRONE:NODRONE? It reminds me of that annoying Franz Ferdinand song- you say you don't know,  doop doop doopydoop... you know the one. I think I can overlook it as the rest of the album is so good.

That was some finish from Johnny Bones ,Miocic looked beaten after round one, shame he's (Miocic) retired but probably for the best rather than hanging around like other fighters past their peak.
I havent seen all of Aspinalls fights but I dont see him troubling Jones. He probably should get his shot seeing as he's an interm champ.
The Jones Pereira fight if it happens should be great.

Nice Bruce Lee quote from Jones after the fight.
"Bruce Lee says that he doesn't fear the man that knows 10,000 kicks, but the man who has worked one kick 10,000 times,"

CRUMBSUCKERS - Life of Dreams
OBITUARY - Dying Of Everything
TYPE O NEGATIVE - Dead Again

Not sure if this is a controversial opinion or not, but personally, overall I prefer the later Type O albums to Bloody Kisses and October Rust.

I am a big fan of 'Slow Deep And Hard' too, although that was essentially leftover Carnivore tunes, and I'm a huge Carnivore fan.
:o
Very controversial

That seems to be making it into the higher levels of the list on both boards here. They really did pull something great out of the bag there
They did and it didnt take too many listens either.
