First track to be released from our new album.

I'll have more details on the album soon, but in the meantime, give this a spin.

Great comeback and everything since has been consistently as good

Fear Factory - Mechanize
I think from the non-Dino albums, Archetype is criminally underrated, and Transgression has a good album buried in there if they weren't rushed to release it, but Mechanize is definitely a throwback to earlier stuff. Shame it all imploded again soon after

A lot of filler on the COW albums I would argue, but I dare say Mechanize and the three albums that followed are all great. I think if any of them had been released right after Obsolete, Fear Factory would be a much bigger band now.

I suppose Tiamat would be one for me. Wildhoney is up there with the best of the best but after that I lost all interest.
I had an Entombed catch up recently and realised that I didn't miss anything essential.

On my third spin of Eternal Champion's Cowards Keep. A song that often gets stuck in my brain. Glorious riffage.

NeurIsis!

On my first spin and very much liking it. Nice to hear Turner doing his Sumac growls.

I was thinking about this today and the interesting thing I found with so many bands is that it's hard to pick the best album from a long standing band, as their golden era will likely have yielded a few contenders, but likewise, it's hard to pick the worst offender once things go to shit. In most cases it seems, when the magic is gone, it's really fucking gone.

I remember a live B side from one of the Black Album singles had Hetfield shouting "Captain Kirk!" right before the solo. It may have been Creeping Death.

Anyway, the prophecy has now been realised!

My old band recently got back together and I have to say the vibe has never been better. I don't know if it's because we're older and have copped on a bit, but we're reaching the end stage of writing our new album and it's been a great buzz throughout. Unlike the second album, where we were ready to kill each other.

I have a couple of one man band things on the go too, although I'm thinking of merging them all into one thing.

I can't imagine a time where I'm not making music of some kind. The love of writing riffs is what keeps me coming back and I've accepted that will never change. If anything I appreciate it more as I get older. It's good to have something that feels real in a world that is becoming increasingly fake and empty.

I've only ever seen bits of that DVD on YouTube but from what I have seen, it looks like each guitarist was responsible for tracking their songs themselves, as in Jack not being present during the Frantic Disembowelment clip and Pat being absent during Decency Defied.

Did Jack not join some rock band with a girl singer just prior to his CC departure? I want to say they were called Adrift or something but I might be thinking of Alas, Rutan's yoke. I vaguely remember him saying something about not wanting to play metal anymore around the time.

Youth is wishing you were Dave Mustaine, growing up is hoping you never become anything like Dave Mustaine.
