I think Brent always probably ran the rails, but having to be removed from the tour etc. weeks before he died, definitely seems a bit foreboding.

I accept that I have a huge amount of nostalgia for Scars of the Crucifix relative to the norm, but I think it is a far superior album to Stench. I think Stench sounded fresh and like a band reinvigorated on release, but it isn't what I want from Deicide (tbh, we're 30 years past what that really is now), but it has no staying power. Scars biggest failing is the thin production, but I think you can see what they were trying to do with it and it doesn't always get the credit it deserves.

Life Sentence was the first thing that came to mind for me. What a great album. The Autopsy shouts are valid but with the volume of them that have come since, I feel the gloss has kind of come off Macabre Eternal, which wasn't as good as the EP that came after it, can't remember the name.

Saw a few pics of the Relapse box set for WFAD, looks amazing. Couldn't justify it as I have a copy already but I'd love a flick through it all the same.

Can't you stay in the UL Halls over the summer? I priced that for a stag a few years ago and it was decent price - ended up crashing elsewhere in the end, so can't say what it was like.

Keep coming back to it, it's an excellent track. Really excited for the album. Would be curious where they'd play a show here now. I'm one of those who got into them just after those sparsely attended gigs in 07 or thereabouts, so never actually saw them.

I'm a big DOD man too, similar vintage to Pat - I bought it when it came out, saw them in The Point that year, was a big deal to me. I think it holds up, though it isn't as good as I thought it was then. I'll always love it.

Was never into Harms Way but dipped into Hardlore at diff times over the years, sad to hear. The Randy Blythe interview a few weeks ago was a real good listen.

Hyped for this. Last few have all been very good, but they never stick - after a month or two I'm probably not reaching for them again. All worthy though,I'd say.

Quote from: Eoin McLove on March 10, 2026, 11:23:46 PMThat Hour of 13 gig was a real event at the time. Who else played that year? Esoteric, Pagan Altar... I'm probably getting confused.

I think Esoteric was the first year, in 2009. Mourning Beloveth and Griftegrad were on that 2010 bill, few others I can't remember.

I saw Kickback rotten drunk the Saturday of Hellfest 2007. Never heard a note of them, but there was such a buzz about them I went along. Moseyed into the pit, again, not really knowing the score in pits like that and got my nose spread across my face. Between my blood and the muck everywhere, my pristine Municipal Waste tshirt was never the same again.

There'll be a ticket for Dublin going up on Ticketmaster in the next few, I can't make it anymore.

I was doing my first year exams and there were 6 killer gigs on in May. I went to Immolation & Dawn of Azazel, The Haunted and Municipal Waste, and another I can't remember.
