It has always gotten more than a few spins a year, but it bares repeating, This Godless Endeavour is absolutely savage still. I bought it from Sound Cellar the day of the Trinity Open Day in 2005 with 17th birthday cash.

Only reading Pat O Brien's name in the press release for the gig, did I learn he played with them for a time. Reading his Wiki, he claims  "I got kicked out of Nevermore because I wasn't queer."   What a hectic parting note.

Savage - managed to miss them in their pomp, so this will be daycent.

I wouldn't go so far as to say I can't stand anything after it, but I'm just not interested. I've heard 2 or 3 of the subsequent albums and they're generally forgettable. Serpents, Once... and the debut are enough for me, in that order.

I'd add Scars on there, but would agree. Feels like a real shame they've not played here in so long. There was a major glut of gigs here in the mid 2000s and fuck all/nothing since. Any clips I see of them now, they're on fire.

Listening to Martyr here, nice stuff. It does just sort of just make me want to listen to Atheist/Death/Cynic, though.

You're right, bands need to build their fanbase and fame the old-fashioned way, by hacking popular bands Spotify accounts.

When was that the narrative? They've been massively popular with a "young" audience forever. I don't like them, I find their schtick terrible, there are countless other Irish bands I'd put above them, but the refusal to accept a) their popularity, b) their worthiness of a headline slot at Slane, c) their global appeal is truly, truly baffling. This is a success for Irish music, but somehow it is the wrong band with the wrong audience. Listen to yourselves, you soggy aul bastards, there's clouds outside that need shouting at.

Bill was on HardLore today, great listen. Talks about the formation of the band, their mission with each album, Brent - how he was, his firing, his death, Nick Johns death, his journey into alternative music. Great listen.

My pre-order of the LP arrived today, fuck knows when it'll actually get listened to. Will fire up online tomorrow. Excited for it.

Outside of your big hitters (Primordial, MB, AI, Malthusian, etc.), I think the Sodb demo is probably my most returned to release. Absolutely sensational stuff.

I could hardly say that I keep coming back to it, but I have such a soft spot for Scavenger - Madness to Our Method. Probably the first Irish release I ever bought and I couldn't believe that a band like that existed in Ireland. I found the CD in my Mams a few years ago and it gets a blast in the car once or twice a year. Ethereal Journey sounds great to me this morning.
