Gigs and Festivals / Re: Dublin Doom Day - March 7th

Quote from: Eoin McLove on March 10, 2026, 11:23:46 PMThat Hour of 13 gig was a real event at the time. Who else played that year? Esoteric, Pagan Altar... I'm probably getting confused.

I think Esoteric was the first year, in 2009. Mourning Beloveth and Griftegrad were on that 2010 bill, few others I can't remember.

I saw Kickback rotten drunk the Saturday of Hellfest 2007. Never heard a note of them, but there was such a buzz about them I went along. Moseyed into the pit, again, not really knowing the score in pits like that and got my nose spread across my face. Between my blood and the muck everywhere, my pristine Municipal Waste tshirt was never the same again.

There'll be a ticket for Dublin going up on Ticketmaster in the next few, I can't make it anymore.

I was doing my first year exams and there were 6 killer gigs on in May. I went to Immolation & Dawn of Azazel, The Haunted and Municipal Waste, and another I can't remember.

Immolation have a more or less flawless back catalogue and I'll pick up every new release, but once a new one comes out, more often than not, the one prior starts to gather dust. They're high quality but expendable too.

Graves of the Archangels could legally buy a pint in Ireland now but it somehow still sounds kinda fresh.

Dunno what my point is, but in that sorta 08-14 period lots of "throwback" death metal came, most of it it went, but DC always have my interest.

Probably not, but lots of the teenagers of 2001 have adult jobs and adult money and seemingly love to part with it for gigs like these.

That's a killer lineup, where was that on?

The Dead Congregation release schedule is sparse, but unintentionally, it has really kept me interested in them. Had they racked up and album every 2-3 years, I'd have probably lost heed in them, whereas I'll go through a burst of listening to them still, a few times a year.

When did they last play here? Would love to see them again. Caught them a heap in the mid/late 2000s and not since I don't think.

There'll always be something you've never heard, and your time is probably as well spent digging through that as new stuff, I find more and more.

All-time great record. Seeing them play it in full at Hellfest 2014 was lethal, made only better by Browning introducing every song with "This next sooong, is from THE KEY!!" - the whole set was The Key.

Aye I met Jack after Deicide played The Village in 2004. I also caught a tomato that Benton randomly threw in the crowd, that my mam threw away a few days later, which I was pissed off about. What I was going to do with it, I have no idea.

That's never stopped the rest of us from looking like we're having a good time.

He's been miserable playing live for 20+ years looking at him.
