Napalm Death's later stuff is better than Scum/FETO, I get that at the time nothing like that had been done but it's pretty unlistenable imo. I'd rate Enemy of the Music Business and Apex Predator as among their best.

Napalm Death haven't made a decent album since 'Fear, Emptiness, Despair'. The few experimental albums they released after it weren't great but at least they tried a different approach. They've played it safe since 'Enemy of the Music Business', apart from the time they had John Zorn squawking on a song back in 2012.

The first 2 Deicide albums and 'Engulfed in Desolation' by Cruciamentum - can't beat manky Death Metal on a miserable Monday.

Witchfinder General anyone?

Lyrics are a bit ropey (gimme my beer!) but who cares, the tunes are class.

'Death Penalty' is a great album. Lyrics are daft alright but Sabbath had shite lyrics too.

Savage are another NWOBHM band that don't get mentioned enough . 'Loose 'N Lethal' is a cracker of an album, it still sounds raw as fuck.

Listening to a lot of Epic Heavy Metal recently. Never given the genre a chance before but it makes a good soundtrack to drunken gardening.

Manilla Road - Crystal Logic/ Open The Gates/The Deluge
Cirith Ungol - King of the Dead
Vultures Vengeance - The Knightlore
Chevalier - Destiny Calls

Warhorse - As Heaven Turns To Ash

I've been on an Electric Wizard buzz recently and was looking for something similar but nothing else I listened to  hit the spot until I remembered this beauty.
Fucking great album. Crushingly heavy and miles better than some of the muck that passes for Doom these days.

Summoning - Nightshade Forests

Hungover this morning so I popped a Valium and listened to this on the commute to work.
The cheesy keyboards always cheer me up.

Holy Terror - Terror and Submission/Mind Wars

These lads were the perfect blend of Thrash and NWOBHM.
Mind Wars is a perfect album but Terror and Submission has its charms too despite the weak production. It sounds joyous without being cheesy.

The jokes during the ad breaks on Dave. One I just saw was,  Jugs of cod are a different kettle of fish.  It made me think that someone would have thought up the joke and considered it funny enough to pass on. Fair enough,  there's always one.  But then the second person found it funny enough to pass on through whatever chain of command exists between the thinking of the joke and it ending up on the tv screen.  That joke is just one example,  and not even the worst example,  of the humour espoused by this tv station.  There is a host of people who find these jokes funny and they are being paid to make them public.  It really makes you think.

Same as those 11850 ads. What the fuck is funny about those 2 bellends?!
I remember going to a New Year's Eve costume party and 2 lads were dressed as those gimps. I wanted to bottle them.

I finally got around to watching this and was fairly underwhelmed.
It starts off as a chronological history of the genre but quickly loses focus and tries to cover too much ground.
The segment on Carcass is laughably brief while a disproportionate amount of time is spent on bands like Alan Cunt and Agoraphobic Nosebleed. At one point the documentary felt like a Behind The Music special about Seth Putnam.
There are some interesting interviews but overall it's an incoherent mess.

Pagan Altar - Judgement of the Dead

Love the woozy sound of this album.  It's like listening to a warped Sabbath tape but it's perfect despite (or because of) it's strangeness.

There was a great artitle about his last few years where he pretty much stayed in his house all the time, never contacting anyone, playing video games and getting high. Must try and find it again

Think this is the article you're on about:

"Slave To The Grind is the first documentary on Grindcore to capture the genre's 35 year life span. The film takes you to Japan, the United States, UK, Australia, Singapore, Finland and Sweden to discuss why the genre has persisted, and changed, over time."

Haven't seen this yet but it's only €3.59 to rent a digital copy. I plan on watching it with a few beers this weekend.
Hopefully it doesn't focus too much on pornogrind.

Rotting Christ - Thy Mighty Contract /Non Serviam.

Eyehategod - Take as Needed for Pain/Dopesick

Napalm Death - Obviously they released seminal albums before 2000 but I prefer their output starting with Enemy of the Music Business .
Hard to decide what their best album from this period is.  At the moment Time Waits for No Slave is my favourite.

Electric Wizard - Come My Fanatics.../Dopethrone
