Nice, missed out on tickets for the first gig. With the hype around them I figured they probably would have been on in the Academy

This the third year in a row they've played here now? Missed Wormrot last time so will head along for them

He sounds the part alright, I see they're booked for the summer fests, hopefully might add a few of their own shows around them too

See him when he played The Voodoo Lounge in April 2017. Only €20 a ticket too. That was a great evening's craic, and the singer he had had some set of pipes..

Would have sworn that gig was around 2011, not '17. Great night alright, I've seen Manowar a few times now but they were the best renditions of those songs I've seen live

Diagnosed with ALS

Awful disease for anyone, but I imagine particularly hard for a musician

Been going back over some of his stuff and those 80s Manowar albums still sound fantastic. Solo stuff isn't too bad either, especially the ones with Marc Lopes on vocals

Quote from: Carnage on February 09, 2026, 03:43:23 PMWould they ever have filled the 3 Arena, were they that big here even at their peak?
My ex at the time was mad into them, saw them in The Point back in '02, Murderdolls supported

Couple of years later (05,06) I saw them again in the Music Centre, and the place wasn't exactly rammed. Fair drop off in the space of a few years, and even at the tail end of nu metal popularity

Guess they've done something right in the last 20 years to hit the arenas again!

There'd have to be a big support with that to fill out the 3 Arena, right? Or have they really gotten that popular again?

Quote from: Pagan Saviour on February 04, 2026, 09:01:07 AMAnthrax back with a brand new setlist for 2026

https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/anthrax/2026/royal-caribbean-freedom-of-the-seas-miami-fl-3b4a4c94.html

Spoiler - it's the same setlist.
They did a few gigs last year with Dan Lilker filling in for Bello, that's the only thing that would have me interested in going to see them again at this point

ICE under Biden and Obama really isnt comparable at all. Obama deported 3.1m in 8 years, Trump over a million in just under one year.

Under the two Democrats, ICE didn't stop people in the streets asking for their papers, they weren't going around harassing citizens, they were properly vetted to be working in the job, they didn't send thousands of armed wannabe paramilitary types into Republican cities to harass people, didn't deport legal citizens to out of country prisons, didn't repeatedly disobey court orders...

So yeah, they get a pass, because for the most part they utilised ICE for it's intended purpose and through legal means

My old cd player died about a year ago and only just got a replacement, so decided to start listening to all my cds in order to celebrate, starting off with:

3 Inches of Blood - Battlecry Under a Winter Sun; Advance & Vanquish

Watching the Alex Honnold Taipei 101 climb, really wish there was an option to turn off the commentary

The Key is phenomenal. Seems a bit of a forgotten classic in some ways though, you never hear it mentioned with other forward thinking albums like Testimony of the Ancients, Unquestionable Presence, or Human that all came out around the same time
