General Discussion / Re: Non Metal Now Listening

Remember going to see ST in the Music Centre just after Thundercat joined, think he was only 16 or 17 at the time. I'd been playing bass a few years and thought I was getting to a decent level, than see this lad the same age as me doing stuff I still probably can't manage!

People will still be studying this in a hundred years trying to figure it all out, unless the US and Israel nuke everywhere to bits by then

I only got to see Nevemore once and Dane was fairly well oiled, was all a bit of a mess. Loomis looked so pissed off for the whole gig and then they split about a month later

That footage looks fucking great though, the new fella is definitely doing the material justice, probably hitting notes Dane couldn't for years. Really hoping they'll sort out a proper tour soon

Children of Bodom - Something Wild

Wasn't there a great thread on MI about that? Auld Tom being particularly grumpy that day if I remember right

I think like most rational Arsenal fans I knew the quadruple was never going to happen, but I am starting to get a bit nervous about the league. The team looks like they're running on fumes at this point and haven't really put in a convincing performance since Spurs

Squeaky bum time for sure

Anyone heading to the Eddfest show? Was just having a look at tickets and only had the option of buying two together

Never cared much for the Dianno albums, my top 5 would be DOD and the four 80s Bruce albums

I'll leave the hall now :abbath:

DoD was one of the first Maiden I got, so probably why I hold it in high regard, its in their top 5 for me. Paschendale easily the highlight, but Montsegur, Rainmaker, Journeyman, Face in the Sand are all brilliant

Still can't excuse the artwork though and Harris deserves a slap for signing off on that. Commissioning Dave Patchett for a piece and instead of something Cathedral-esque he went with the dancing baby from the 90s. No wonder Patchett refused credit

Yeah must be so frustrating sitting around waiting for King to get off his hole and do something

For someone that was churning out KD and MF albums through the 80s and 90s he really hasn't been fucked with anything bar the odd tour for the last 20 years

Quote from: blessed1 on April 01, 2026, 11:32:44 AMI think Brave New World is excellent and Dance Of Death has some great songs but after that I didn't rate anything bar a few songs on AMOLAD and Final Frontier. The ones that came after them are terrible.

I think Bruce Dickinson's solo stuff from Accident Of Birth on pisses all over Maidens recent stuff. Chemical Wedding is one of the best Heavy Metal albums from the 1990s imo.
I'd swap around BNW and DoD, otherwise completely agree. I've listened to Book of Souls once or twice, don't think I even got through a full playthrough of Senjutsu

Yeah there's a lot of really good stuff, admittedly some awful songs too that drag on way too much, but that's the case for the reunion albums too. They just get a pass from the general crowd because it's Bruce singing them

Blaze Bayley added on now to the Knenbworth show doing a set from his stint with the band, nice gesture from them

Quote from: Trev on March 29, 2026, 09:35:41 PMSaw Exodus during the week and they were fucking great, more energy in a 45 min support slot than I've seen in a Metallica gig in the last 15 years

Album wise, everything they've released from the 2000s on is better than the Metallica equivalent

Was that at a Kreator show? Ill be in Berlin when it hits there in a few weeks so going to head to it. How long did Carcass and Nails play for?
Yeah that's the one. Think Nails had 35/40 mins and an hour for Carcass
