Once upon a time Peaveville were on top of their game and set a standard for discovering new groundbreaking bands.

However I'm finding it hard to remember the last decent release I got from them, let alone something ground breaking. On checking theor Burning Shed online store they seem very much scraping by on past glories, with the 10th anniversary of this or the 30thanniversary of that.

Anyone gotten anything decent from them in the past decade?  Are they even a real label anymore?? Does Peaceville now really translate as SleepyVillage?

I had no idea that they were still releasing new material, I thought they were just a reissue/distribution label at this point.

The only new albums I've been aware of them releasing (except Darkthrone) is the Mork stuff, I'm sure there's more artists but they really seem to mostly focus on the classic albums they've put out in the past

Are Mork worth a listen? I've been steadily adding the reissues to my connection over the past couple of years. So much great old stuff there to be delved into.

Are Akercocke still with them? Enjoyed their last one, but that was a good while ago now, can't think of anything from this year they've put out

In one way it's a shame really, on another they haven't pissed away their legacy and goodwill ala Earache so that's commendable. I'd imagine they'd have the pick of today's underground were they so inclined but yeah, it's a bit of a closed membership club at this point. I also really do appreciate the way they're keeping things in print and affordable.

Didn't they put out the first Obliteration? That's the last "new" band I can thing of them doing.

Anyone read Hammy's book?

I think they did the latest Bloodbath one too.

My Dying Bride released all of their stuff with them too until they signed with Nuclear Blast like a year ago.

Last few Autopsy were my latest Peaceville purchases. Love to see more stuff come out under their banner though, always associated with halcyon days
Wearing jeans and leather, not crackerjack clothes

Easily my favourite  label back in the day.

Just reading it at the moment, after borrowing a copy 8 months ago...

Up as far as 1987 at this juncture.

The early 1990's ads to post a tape for a copy of Vile Vibes now makes more sense as he was basically still not too far removed from Peaceville Tapes I guess.

It's mad the way it just developed in the early years as a bedroom project until Hammy was coaxed off the dole by Thatcher's stimulus plan encouraging new start up's (mad that Superdry also started then), and a random purchaser of his early tape releases just gave him £2,000 (€8k these days) to start up without any lean on getting money back. Stroke of luck.

His dad seems a sadistic prick of the highest order.  >:(

Tough blow about his 10 year old cousin, but at least it helped clean up Hammy's alcohol dependancy spiral.

Onwards with the easy read anyway...

The first Mork album is great as is the third. The others are worth checking out as well.
He is not ashamed to show his influences and the song writing is good.
The last album has clean singing on it and it works as he has a good voice.
Give Isebakke a spin and go from there.

I think alot of labels are struggling with discovering new ground breaking bands these days to be honest Brian.

They released a new Mortuary Drape EP last year but for the most part they just seem to focus on reissues. They also did that series of live Mayhem LPs a few years ago which had never been officially released up to that point.

Just happened to see, via a share from Pedrito on FB, that they released Sigh's last album, Shiki, in 2022.
