Starting a thread for heavy stuff outside of what is typically considered 'metal'.

I'll start with an Irish great!

Trenches - Self Titled EP

Yup listening to a lot of the Cure recently due to getting tickets for their  June 8th gig. Actually some of their earlier stuff is nice and dark, really a superb band and one that I ignored in my youth when these albums were coming out to my shame now.

Better late than never! Would have loved to have tickets for The Cure but they sold quick!

Heinryk Goreckis Symphony Of Sorrowful Songs.

So because it's a new thread and a new forum and all that, I'll start with a really obvious choice...Swans.
Where to start? I don't think you can go wrong with any particular era but I wouldn't start with the recent stuff.

radioheads ok computer is one id think of.
lana del rey's stuff too come to think of it.

Lingua Ignota fo' sho. Can't recommend her work enough. Arguably The Body aren't "metal" but then I'm not sure where the lines are anymore.

Surely I've mentioned MMMD/Mohammad before?

Senyawa have been high on the list for me as well lately

Red House Painters surely need a mention. This song in particular. The end is amazing.

All great suggestions, keep them coming heads!

loving that Senyawa  - cheers.

I find this soothing and heavy in it own right - Shibalba which are a Ritualistic Dark Ambient project

Does the soundtrack to "Doom" that Mick Gordon did count as metal or non metal? Heavy though.

Well it's metal-adjacent. A lot of the heavy bits/focal points come via chuggy, downtuned guitar.
