Hey there's an awful lot to be said for the buzz of going out picking even aside from taking them. I love the whole lot, the smell in the air, the traipsing through the fields, the dark creeping into the evenings. It's just class.

Was up hiking on Slieve Donard on Tuesday. It's about 860m high...
Didn't see any Libs but plenty of their lookalikes.
Here's hoping that we'll see some Libs by the end of the month or early September.

I've the lookalikes out in my back garden already and it's barely above sea level so I'm currently living in hope of a bumper year. Still haven't seen the end of last year's lot but they are gone weak now, not even half strength. The odd thing is I seem to come up fine off em but it wears off really quickly rather than having to take more to get going. Ah well, they served me well

I noticed that it was 8°C last night as I got into the van this morning and lo and behold, my mate has just sent me a pic of 6 libs he's just found up in Rostrevor, Co. Down....

It's that wee bit colder up here alright. This warm spell will probably delay them a tad, but by the next rains we should see a flourish I'm sure.

I'm gagging for it after finishing up the last of last year's haul the other night. Finished on a high note though, decided to bring the little dog for a walk, came up strong on the way and could hardly make it home I was laughing so hard at how fast his little legs were going. Just as well it was night because it's a small town and I have to be seen in it at regular times. Laughed me bollix off though, proper doubling over stuff.

Going to go to my two good fields this afternoon though...

250 in under 2 hours. The going was still good only it got dark on me.  Having another go this morning

I went up to the wicklow mountains last week and not a one was found. How the hell are people getting 250

Get out again they are everywhere now. I went out for a scout last week and only got 20 in the same field I got the 250 in.

Got 550 in the same place today and not even quarter of the field covered. Out again as soon as I can

I went to my two good fields today and not a sausage. I'll go again next week, no panic, it's still early....
