He's definitely an acquired taste but just like Funeral Mist and DSO once it clicks with you, you will never go back.

If it hasn't clicked after 25 years, it's not going to.

. I find DMDS unlistenable,
Each to their own I suppose , I find GDOW to be unlistenable due mainly to Maniacs insufferable squawking on it. Dont mind his other Mayhem stuff so much but I find his voice hit or miss.

I like a lot of the music on GDOW but Maniacs vocals especially the spoke word ones sound bad. He's too camp just like Legion that use to be in Marduk. Chimera is the one Mayhem album I could never get into.

I like Chimera a lot. I really think GDOW had a few good tracks on there but he fucked them up. Interesting comparison with Legion. Apart from Opus Nocturne I can only listen to the Plagueangel to Viktoria albums.

Marduk are great the only really bad album is La Grande. Legion is a great vocalist and lyricist its just the way he acts on stage that I don't like. Check out Heaven Shall Burn its one of the albums to have ever come out of Sweden. Warschau is also one of the best live albums I have ever heard.

Warschau is incredible. I consider Mortuus to be the ultimate in Marduk vocalists. I'll respin Heaven shall burn tonight to see how time has treated it.

.

The songs are great on Panzer. I just prefer when Mortuus does them.

The production on Panzer is what turns me off a little bit. Great songs but I only really ever listen to the live versions. Still waiting for Osmose to reissue the vinyl that they announced almost 6 years ago.

Mortuus is definitely the best vocalist they have had. Even though his stage presence has changed over the years. When I first saw Marduk live on the Plague Angel tour in Whelans in 05 (the same tour Warschau and the DVD were recorded on). He moved very little on the stage, didn't say anything in between songs except the name of the song any maybe a little small speech before it in reference to the title and then at the end he just slammed the microphone down and walked off the stage.

Then in 2009 they came back I saw them in Belfast and Dublin he came out swinging his hair around and was constantly trying to get the crowd to chant. For this kind of music I just prefer the way he originally was which was probably also down to him not having that much live experience at the time.

I just sent off for the 25 year anniversary edition of DMDS. I couldn't resist. By all accounts the sound is amazing and with all the extra rehearsal, plus the book full of interview and rare recording session photos from the album session, I knew I'd regret not biting the bullet. It's left a gaping wound in the bank account this week, though, and one that will no doubt infect my dreams with anxiety and shame.  One the other hand, sure look it!

I decided against it. Too many instrumental and vocal tracks. Don't doubt it will look killer. Have the picture disk version of Cursed in Eternity box set and I love it. No doubt it will resell for 400 plus within two months though.

I love GDOW. I buzz off it as hard as anything they have released that I know.

Chimera isn't great at all though. I don't think I listened to Daemon or at least can't remember it if I did. Any good?
