So I know there's other Bungle fans on here too... It's happening. In the most contrary, Bungle-esque wind up of a way possible.

I'm obviously not holding out for new material and this is a one off deal I think, but what a weird thing to reunite for - spending most of your career making wildly innovative music and then getting back together to play your shitty teenage death thrash demo.

Also I can't help but just think "really?Scott Ian was the best they could get to play second guitar?"

Lombardo's credentials or suitability ain't in question but I have to agree Scott Ian's involvement is shocking. He's a dickhead to boot.

Kind of a related aside but there's an interview with Trey Spruance about the early days of Bungle on The Vinyl Guide podcast next week which I suspect might shed more light on what's going on. There's another episode with their former manager where she mentions that their plan for the record after California was to do something that was inspired by electronica and Devo. Would love to have heard that.

I had a real WTF when I read the announcement. After their tweet lately I was really curious but I think nobody could have expected this.

I find that demo to be unlistenable. Some of the tunes might be okay but it always sounded that bit too shit to enjoy it. Maybe this will shine some light on the songs. Still great to see them do something no matter what it is

Weird announcement. Is it the OG lineup plus Ian and Lombardo? Or just Ian and Lombardo on drums and guitar?

Just read up more on this, here is another article for those interested.

A Long time I've hoped for this, line up- whatever,
Just do it!

Good to see them back in any capacity but I won't be travelling to the states to see them for just the demo aired live - if it was an EU show I'd probably already have tickets bought though.  Here's hoping this leads to more.

Would like to see them with Danny Heifetz back on drums too but no harm in Lombardo at all.  Scott Ian feels like they pulled the name out of a hat but yeah, you'd expect no less from them.

Also was reading this yesterday, some of it is pretty gas.  Reviews from the release of their s/t at the time: https://twitter.com/fnmlivedb/status/1161219365460537345?s=19

Honestly had to check it wasn't April 1st, what the heck.

Loved the eponymous first album , played it to bits for about 2 years when it came out. Listening to it now and it still rocks!!

Lads that listen to demos shocked at bands plan to play shows playing their demo shocker 😂😂

😅 Agreed, however with Mr.Bungle having been on hiatus for so long one would expect maybe a 'retrospective' type of show but then again, they were never 'conventional'  in any way, shape or form.

Their self titled debut is without doubt a rare album in the sense that it's uncategorizable, sure there are metal riffs here and there but it seems restless musically, still listen to it now and then and it never gets boring despite its high weirdness.

Plus, let's be honest, it's a shite demo.

Correct! I went back to listen to it there and thought, yeah Scott Ian is about right.
