Sacrilegia are one of the most promising bands to spring out of our land in recent times.  Their album is a ripping thirty minute long banger that I think will really impress a lot of people. I often find the thrashier end of the metal spectrum to be a bit dull and obvious but there is enough song writing skill and bite to the lads' album to elevate it well beyond the mundane.  I believe they will have a bassist joining them live in future which will heft things up considerably.

Sounds very cool, was told lots of good things about their first live appearance which I managed to miss. I believe the album is out in March.

They played all of their songs at Siege and it was great, looking forward to the album.

They definitely have a great sound though am I the only one to find the preview track a bit lacking and repetitive? Looking forward to hearing the whole thing regardless.

Sounds promising, look forward to hearing more.

Not the only one. I was going to delay saying anything until hearing the whole album though.

I've gotten the repetitive thing about my own stuff from a few people. I think that with this kind of music it appeals to a certain kind of people (not that my stuff and Sacrilegia are the same kind of thing). My main influences are Blasphemy, Conqueror, Beherit and Bestial Warlust along with a few others. I love that style. If you listen to those bands it's hardly a huge variation in terms of songwriting within tracks. I see the same in Sacrilegia.

Their influences are very clear, this is their take on the kind of music they love. It sounds and is arranged they want it to be. It's not like they couldn't come up with other riffs or more tempo changes, it's them doing what they like. This kind of music is not crowd pleasing, mass appeal stuff. It's for people who are into it. If someone doesn't like it because they find it repetitive, lacking or whatever to them that's perfectly valid but it sounds and is arranged that way for a reason.

Thanks for clearing that up. Like an idiot, I'd forgotten to remove my "mass appeal" cap before listening to it.

Glad you'll remember to do so next time   :)

Ha, did you just bandsplain Chris?

It's promising stuff indeed. They've gotten an awful lot done in a very short amount of time and I don't foresee them running out of steam any time soon. Well for at least the next 2 years hopefully, until the futility of it all becomes apparent.  loljk metal is life

Not intentionally, I was more thinking out loud, not really intended to be pointed at anyone.

You're both off my Christmas card list.

How do you think 'out loud' on a forum?   :P

LP and CD coming on April 12th.

Had a listen to some of this today and it sounds absolutely fantastic.
Cover art is class, too.
