I prefer BJJ myself but for MMA wrestling is the number one ground game while Muay Thai is best for stand up. Ben is not great on his feet so I would say he will go to the ground as quickly as possible.

It's an odd match up because it's one of the rare instances where Maia will have the advantage on the feet.

UFC favours the striker and doesn't allow for long periods on the ground. The length of rounds, being able to use the cage etc. Askren is excellent but I would definitely not underestimate Maia. This fight will go where he always wants to go. His takedown game and his standup always lets him down but if Askren goes to the ground it's going to get seriously dicey for him.

Diaz just got USADA'd  ???, out of the fight against Masvidal.

They allow for time on ground once something is being done it's when both fighters are are trying to take rest breaks for extended periods that don't like it and even at that it's at the refs discretion to break it up. I am definitely not underestimating Maia but as fan of Ben's I really want him to win because if he doesn't; I think this could be his last fight.

His biggest opponent next year will be the DPP. And I'm routing for the DPP.

Isn't he suppose to have been involved in another sexual assault last Friday?

Cowboy would be a good opponent. The hardest working man in the UFC I would love to see him win a title someday.

Main event next week is back on Nate was cleared.

When the UFC is on at a regular time .. 9/10 I forget and miss the bloody thing. Just copped it's nearly over and just turned on now to see the end of the  Stevie Ray interview.

Final fight just startin now. Would like to see Maia win this, Askren just rubs me the wrong way every time he opens his mouth.

Slept him...Askren looked like he was drowning at the end. Amazing highest level BJJ.

Ben looked like he didn't even train for this fight terrible don't know what he is at could be the end for him now.

The Masvidal fight is still lingering. That was an awful knockout. You'd wonder if his public persona is not doing him more harm than good also.

I think the takeaway here is that Askren is too reliant on wrestling. A bit like Kron in the last fight, no MMA athlete can afford to only rely on their A game, be it BJJ, standup or wrestling. They need to develop their other games and certainly Maia has done that. Askren will need to follow suit.

I thought Maia's stand up looked even worse then Ben's and Ben was winning most of the exchanges which makes me ask why he went to the ground. I am guessing he wanted to prove a point. Ben said it himself yesterday after the fight he was over confident and thought he would have no issues on the ground. Love him or hate him he took this defeat very well again. Even Maia said he was a gent and would love to train with him sometime. He hasn't really been saying much since the Masvidal fight not that I have seen anyway.

Felt bad for Rory last night. Both lads were far too cautious which is understandable when two belts and a million dollars is on the line.  I would love to see Rory back in the UFC he would definitely be a title contender and would have no issues beating Lawler these days. His ground game and his ground defence is one of the best in the sport unfortunately for him Lima just happens to be one of the best in the sport at defending takedowns.

The thing is Lima is one of the best Welterweights in the sport right now and Ben beat him before.
