I noticed the Cure thread in the general Discussion , made me think of this cover by Carpathian Forest.
Im not a Cure fan at all but always loved this cover.

Anyway any other strange non metal cover songs from extreme metal bands?

Celtic Frost's cover of Mexican Radio, although the whole Into the Pandemonium album is strange anyway.

Megadeth putting covers on their early albums diluted the quality of the records when comparing them to what Metallica/Slayer were putting out at the time.

Vulpecula's cover of Major Tom (Coming home) is bizarre, really takes away from the album. It's not quite terrible but it's just out of place really.

Yeah the covers on the early Megadeth albums were  absolutely shite.

Not an extreme band, but since I'm listening to the album and had forgotten about it until it just came on now:

And, in a similar vein, Realm's cover of Eleanor Rigby is simply the best metal cover of a non-metal song ever:

Going slightly more extreme, Coroner have a couple:

Metallica's cover of Brewing Up a Storm. Unreal.  GAA jersey wavingly good.

Type O Negative's cover of "Summer Breeze" is fucking great, as is their Beatles medley. "DAYTRIPPPPEERRRR!!!"  :abbath:

I'll never not find that hilarious.

100% agree with the Type O comment above.

It was definitely worth the work getting to the bottom of this apparently random contribution.
Can we get an Abbath in a GAA jersey maybe??

Pallbearer covered Gloomy Sunday on their demo, it's an old Hungarian song known as the 'Hungarian Suicide Song' and was also covered by Billie Holiday.

Nice call on A Forest, well cool.

What springs to mind:
Vader - I Feel You (Depeche Mode)
Exhumed - Material Girl (Madonna)
Brujeria - Macarena (their marijuana version!)
Celestial Season - Vienna (I really dig this Ultravox cover)

Mutiilation - My Way (Frank Sinatra)
Krieg - Venus in furs (The Velvet Underground)
Bathory -I'm only sleeping (the Beatles)

And to go back to the original post of this thread, Carpathian Forest rendition to cult "Necromantix" film theme.
