I'm sure some of you, like me, were sad to see MetalIreland.com suddenly disappear. It was a valuable resource for the local metal community, whether it be for gig announcements, band updates, or general metal discussion.

As it closed down without any notice, there wasn't much time to spin up a new site. While MetalWarfare.com might never be able to replace Metal Ireland completely, I'm hoping it can at least serve some purpose to promote the Irish metal community.

I was mostly a lurker on the old site, mainly using it to see upcoming gigs. If anybody has interest in creating content such as album/gig reviews, photos, or anything else, let me know and I'll add some kind of functionality onto the site to allow it to be posted. The site exists to benefit everyone, so I'll always be listening to any new ideas put forward.

If anybody has questions, issues, complaints, or ideas, feel free to post them here or message me directly and I'll see what I can do to help.

Great that you spun up a replacement so fast.  I'm familiar enough with IT (Linux, scripting and such) let me know if there is anything I can help with.

Thanks for the offer. Might need some PHP in the future depending on what direction the site goes, but I can manage everything for now.

Hi Lads,

Great Idea - I think you can make this work. Be great if you/we could add a bit more content to the site but first of all I think a bit of traffic is needed, can everyone share the link via facebook etc?

Thanks for setting this up.

Good luck with the site. Fair play to CT for plugging along for nearly 20 years BUT I found MI (particularly the forums) utterly infuriating for the last 6 months/year of it so I'm in the minority of folks who actually felt it was maybe time for it to end, albeit the abruptness with which it shut down was a little suspicious.  Hopefully this works out better and is a slightly more civil/sane affair. In terms of content..hmm...I wrote for MI for a while, not averse to doing a review or article or two should you need it. You can PM me or whatever if you have specifics in mind.

Looking about the forum here and I see there's a calendar included.  Not sure how possible it is but is there a way of allowing threads in the gigs forum to post to the calendar too?  Or otherwise autopopulate it with the added events.  Might be handy.

That's the plan. Hoping we can get a bit of activity on the front page once the ball starts rolling.

Anything wrong in particular with MI so we can avoid the same mistakes with this site?

Any reviews, articles, interviews etc would be great. That goes for everyone. If anybody has any interest in front-page content then please let me know!

I've been thinking about this myself. There's the gig listings on the main site, the gig forum, and the calendar on the forum. I'm looking into some way to allow regular users to add to the gig list. I'm not sure if the forum calendar is unnecessary, or if I should just have it link to the main gig list. Any input?

Best of luck with it. I had started writing reviews on MI so, if you need anything, get it ouch, happy to contribute.

I did a few things on MI too over the years, happy to contribute too.

I did a few rare gig reviews on MI over recent years so happy to assist.

Thanks so much for starting this site, it's greatly appreciated. Lost without the gig section of MI so nice one.

Very strange the way MI ended so abruptly, pain in the ass for traders etc. Was on a Lords of chaos thread, checked some links then whoosh!

Anyway, thanks again, hopefully it won't wear you down!

Fair play for starting this up and best of luck with it , have to agree with the above comments but would  say it had went that way over last few years rather than months  which was a shame as it was a great site with great content ,

Glad to see something like this up and running!
