I did search for a thread,but couldn't find one.

Obviously everyone knows about this, and yeah, I get it, Metallica is shit, it's pop music, they aren't as good as  30 years ago.blah blah blah.

Anyway, it's the biggest metal gig in Ireland, and I'm sure plenty on this site are going, wether they admit it or not!!

Picked up a ticket for £60, so happy enough with that, just hope it's not lashing!!

Really want to see Ghost live but just can't bring myself to go back to Slane (ever) ... Hopefully they get a good enough reception that MCD decided to bring them back for a headline show at some stage. If not, I'll get around to go seeing them somewhere in Europe.

Good luck to everybody going .... hope it's a great day.

Absolutely, I think this is the worst place to see ghost. Really needs to be indoors to get the full experience. Caught them on the Meliora tour in the UK and it was ace. Can't imag it being the same at Slane, during the day and with 65k people who don't know or care who they are.

Yeah I'm going. Long time Metallica fan despite them disappointing me again and again. I have to say it's possibly the most piss poor line-up I've ever parted with cash to see though. I'm somewhat interested to see Ghost but the rest is abysmal.

Stiff little fingers is a strange addition.

No idea what to expect being a slane virgin, tho done plenty festivals in England.

Will there be 3 burger vans, and a pop up bar? Lol

Slane Virgin?

Expect to be surrounded the the real life Hills Have Eyes. 50-60% of the audience won't know anything other than the black album. €7 pints. Long queues for the jacks, bar, food and and other facility or service. People from Leitrim and Longford engaging in sexual activity in public. Finally the big rush before the encore to get out of the kip.

At best I was expecting Sepultura or Alice In Chains level support. At worst I thought Volbeat would have been added. But Stiff Little Fingers and Fangclub? Dreadful stuff.

Supposedly Therapy? offered their services and were told they weren't even being considered.

Don't mind that Cryptic Whingebag. Get a rake of pints into ya and you'll be fine  8)
Yes it's going to be festival prices/ques and yes, not everybody there is going to be a die hard metal fan and yes, you city boys may have difficulty getting home after, but you can't have everything on your doorstep all the time can you?

Sure the GAA heads will love an auld mosh I'd say

I've heard rumours that Metallica were asked to play a different venue cos ticket sales are well below what was expected. Lars has Slane on his list of world famous venues that he wants to play so there was no budging by the band.

Latest support additions are awful.

Giggles clearly from the greater Longford/Leitrim area. Has his sack of economy larger at the ready.

What was expected? Sounds like a load of bollocks to me no doubt came from the gob of lad who is hoping it went to the pale rather than actually believe that garbage. Lars has Slane on his list of venues would like to see this list , seriously if he gave a fuck about venues he'd be doing shows in the Royal albert hall they don't.

Sher look, rumours are always just that, no doubt from someone supposedly "in the know". I'd believe Lars would be difficult in a situation like that, all the same.

I'd love to know how many tickets have actually sold. What constitutes a disaster as far as sales go?

99% of metal heads i know arent going to this,so i can see why numbers would be way down.
Im a long time metallica fan and a big Gohst fan,and i cant find the will to go to this. The Venue, the hassle, being swamped by day tripping gimps, nah cant do it.

At a push i might have went if it was in Croker or the Aviva.
