This came out today. Highly recommend to anybody into folk or trad to give it a go. He's from Sheffield I believe. A brilliant , slightly modern twist on the style. Loads of versatility to the album so give a few of the tunes a go. Good dose of mysticism in it too.

Artist: Pile
Album: Dripping
Year: 2012
RIYL: Jawbox, Slint, Pixies, maybe early Radiohead, Jesus Lizard, Harvey Milk

Really enjoying my new discovery of this band. Somebody mentioned them in the live performance videos thread. Unpredictable, catchy, heavy, they kind of have it all really.

I used to listen to Jinx Lennon a.good bit back around the collapse of the Celtic Tiger. He was on Tommy Tiernan the other night and despite being unsure about him back in the day, there is a touch of absolute brilliance and probable genius to the lad.

Shades latest release "Good Sad Happy Bad".

It's out since late last year but I only got it last week. Two fulls spins and I think it's pretty damn good. Jangly, noisey, shoe-gaze.

@ Pedrito & Nazgûl

I got the Robbie Basho LP today from Bleep. Very well packaged, no plastic packaging either.
The does LP has a plastic outer sleeve which is good.
I'll let you (Nazgûl) know how the record plays later when I'm home.

Do. To be honest I've made ammends with it and not going to let it tarnish my love for the album, because it's fucking brilliant. It's also hard to tell sometimes with his voice as he has a particular vibrato style of singing. Was mainly the piano sound on side 2 that had me skeptical.

The packaging is very nice and I enjoyed all of the linear notes inside too.

Morphine

The sound of a comedown, of that point in the night where the drink is wearing off, weariness, the wee hours, slow, murky, half awake half asleep music. Far from depressing though it causes me to slow way down when I listen to them. Best album: Cure for Pain, though they're all class. Mark Sandman the singer dropped dead onstage, bass in hand in Italy at the age of 47. Legendary.

Have listened to a couple of Morphine albums now over the last few days and definitely enjoyed them. Remind me a bit of Cigarettes After Sex (who herself loves) but with depth, variety, and really nice instrumentation.

Yeah man, I've only got into them recently. Big cult following it seems as they've been pretty much independent the whole time, while releasing quality albums one after another. Recommend checking out their latest one Green & Gray -- but from what I hear most of the albums are worth checking.

And thanks to whoever posted this here somewhere, which led me to discovering them. Great performance.

My LP is playing absolutely perfect Naz.
Tbh, it sounds otherworldly on vinyl. The whole package is truly a joy, just so.
It's available at a great price on eBay at the moment. Everywhere else seems to be sold out (unsurprisingly).....

Susumu Yokota: ambient music, FFO Brian Eno. Really mesmerizing if you are in the mood:
