Sounds class man. I don't listen to much blues anymore but when you hit a winner with that really raw old stuff it's feckin magic.

To relate that recommendation somewhat to the forum, I remember the user GODOT on Metal Ireland had a deadly podcast/radio show called The Awkward Sons of Patrick Stewart. He played some cracking old blues tracks on that the odd time that always stood out amongst the hundreds of players doing that style back in the day.

This was one of them:

Has that hypotonic sadness to it also.

I remember he had some rock type stuff he did back in the day that used be on Metal Hammer cds. Was catchy out.
Animal Rights is fuckin lethal.  Without even looking I can guarantee Astfgyl has already posted this song somewhere on the forum.

Listening here. Great listen. Reach for my Revolver a great tune. Somebody to love was on that metal hammer cd years ago. Catchy as fook.

On the subject of catchy, I'd easily listen to stuff like Blink 182 or Weezer, We are Scientists.

A great album is this one by Fountains of Wayne. Just pure catchy classness.

I wouldn't tend to go as poppy as Blink or Fountains of Wayne, but a big fan of similar stuff that preceded it like Pavement, Built to Spill and Dinosaur Jr.

So with that being said, here's a newer band from Belfast called Junk Drawer, who definitely take inspiration from that 'college rock'/US indie scene of the 90s. This track is a great introduction (wait for the monstrous 3 minute long outro!):

Anybody who likes it I'd recommend checking out their proper debut album released last year, which is also on their Bandcamp and Spotify. Great live band too!

I didn't think I'd like that from the description but it's pretty good. Pure QOTSA worship, but better than anything they've put out for a long time.

Yeah I hear that comparison too I guess now that you point it out. Perhaps not fully indicative of their sound in general. They have a fair bit going on in terms of diversity across the album.

Re: the QOTSA comparison, it does has a similar feel and tempo to 'Autopilot' from Rated R, albeit a fair bit heavier.

Ha, that's a cracking track. I like it, a lot!
I wouldn't know much by QOTSA so that's maybe a good thing in this instance.

That's class, must invrstigate some of them lads. Rock n Roll McDonalds..genius!

I honestly love this. I don't even need to contrast it with some fat lesbian arsehole singer like Sam Harris because it is infinitely more creative and unique than that bag of manure could ever be.

He has a few choons about Bolt thrower etc gigs as well

Not to mention the fucking classic, "I whooped Batman's ass"

Brainticket - Cottonwoodhill

Pure psychedelia! Not album where you pick and choose tracks. Stick it on and let it run!  Pure nutty brilliance!
