I dunno whether they belong here or in the noise rock thread but I've had Sonic Youth: Bad Moon Rising and Evol on a loop for hours. Fantastic stuff, the experimental tracks take a bit of adjusting to but the first 3 tracks from Evol alone are among the best they ever released.

Pedrito and Kurt:

When ye get your copy of Robbie Basho, could ye let me know how it sounds? Not to be the bearer of bad news, but my copy seems off center on Side B. Now I'm no audiophile by any stretch, but it has a slight warbling sound as off center records tend to have.

What backs up my suspicion -- unfortunately -- is that Gnome Records reissued this on clear vinyl last year, and there a couple of bad reviews on Discogs from people saying the exact same thing.  :(

Will do bud. That's a damn shame man.

Two amazing albums. I would add the two either side of those as well, Confusion is Sex and Sister, to the pile and then also Goo for a more straight forward but exceptional album.

No love for Daydream Nation no? The only one missing there from that run of albums (released prior to Goo) mentioned in those couple of posts. Excellent album.

It's a grwat album. Haven't heard it in ages, must lash it on.

For whatever reason I never really listened to Daydream Nation. Was gonna mention that in the post given it's an obvious omission but well, I didn't. Must give it a right lash.

The two I mentioned are the only two that struck a chord with me for whatever reason, but they're long-time favourites. Their other stuff is grand but I find my attention wanders when I listen to them.

I have all 5 mentioned on near equal pegging.

Man, I'm really digging these boys....

Gloriously good.....

Moby - Little Idiot

Beautiful disc. Was released as a bonus with 1996 album but is easily as good as the main disc if not better.

It's interesting that it was released on the back of his rock album which I imagine would have been pretty challenging for the fans of his earlier stuff, and then this is the antithesis of that again and probably a bit of a challenge to those who came along for the rock stuff. It took me a good while to come to really appreciate it but well worth the time.

After that then he lost me with the ad music he is best known for although he has a few decent things sprinkled through his collection since.

I'll throw up a link in a  bit but it's annoying on mobile

I remember he had some rock type stuff he did back in the day that used be on Metal Hammer cds. Was catchy out.

He has only one album like that and it's class. I couldn't be arsed with him in general but he did great with that one. I still throw it on fairly often. Animal Rights it's called. The bonus disc is the one I was on about up there.

Bought it off discogs again last year spanking new for 13 dollars and I see some cunts trying to sell the same thing for 150 english notes on amazon and ebay. Fuck em it might be good but not 150 good

I think Bad Moon Rising is my favourite Sonic Youth album, but it's not like it's a weak catalogue to choose from!

Supposedly it's the closest of their albums to seeing them live, never got the chance myself unfortunately.

May have posted this before, as per the Basho resurrection, but it's damn good. Some of the most hypnotic Mississippi blues I've ever heard, gets a spin regularly.

Far as I know, he played with his band regularly his whole life but never had any recordings released until he was well into old age. Thankfully a few albums were made to preserve his take on it, because it's totally different to more popular blues styles, heavy emphasis on groove, not much chord changing happening. Apart from his own style, the band's style is just delightfully weird. There's parts that shouldn't work and sound almost shambolic, but it's just played with such commitment that it forms itself. Pure music!

Check out "I Gotta Try You Girl" on this, you'll be hooked.

Great live footage here, like something from another world
