Fair chance this will be familiar to a lot of ye already, but if not, this is sublime

American folk singer with a really unique blend of influences and unmistakable vocals. Fucking genius guitar and piano work. I don't really even know how to describe this adequately at all, the music will have to speak for itself.

That's really something. Listening to it here.

It's all great, but that middle section, Blue Crystal Fire, The Orphan's Lament and Leaf In The Wind, is just a flawless, properly otherworldly melancholia run. Haunting is thrown around a lot, but this is really it.

IIRC you're one of the lads out in Spain, but this album is absolutely made for the kind of drizzly/rainy days we get around this time of the year.

Go nice with a whiskey in the Autumn alright

Gil Scott-Heron  - Pieces of a Man

Musically and lyrically stunning. One of my favourite albums.

May as well start my contributions by nominating my favourite album of all time.

It's one of those classic foppish, overblown British records so if that's not your thing the pomposity of it probably won't win you over but if a cross section of The Queen is Dead, Low and Andrew Lloyd Webber sounds up your street or you only know Suede from Animal Nitrate then shtick it on. It's fucking majestic. I love Suede Mk. 2 as well but Bernard Butler is one of my favourite guitarists of all time. This smokes anything by the other big indie bands from the 90s. They really fucked it up by the end of the 90s and by the time they came back - and those comeback albums are thrilling - they were a hall size cult band.

Probably the best one for a quick sample.

Suede are one of those bands that I've always meant to explore properly, I've certainly heard some fantastic music from them. I stick on their greatest hits/B-sides comp. every now and then but I must delve into the albums. A mate rates that one very highly indeed (he put them on in Dublin a few times, I think).

Great thread. Discovered some amazing stuff. Haven't gone through it all yet though so if this band has been posted apologies. The Comet is Coming. Synths, drums and saxaphone. Unreal. When the beat starts at 1.30 in we have lift off.

Have had one of their albums liked on spotify for ages but only listened to it once. Enjoyed it and meant to go back to it.

Love that album, great call.

Suede are class. Only really know the self titled album though which is a great listen. Must give Dog Man Star a listen

The Comet is Coming are deadly. The guy on sax is Shabaka Hutchings - TCIC is one of his projects - I put up the link to his newest album ("We Are Sent Here By History") a few pages back. He's also in Sons Of Kemet who are worth checking out.

If that sort of stuff is your buzz (it's definitely mine) then I can highly recommend Maisha's "There Is A Place" too.

Bought a few of their albums there, after this stuck in my head. Went for the deluxe versions as they're fairly cheap these days, so plenty of extra material to get through.

I watched The Insatiable Ones again the other night, great documentary on the history and reformation of the band if anyone's bothered.

I know it's a non-album single, but "Stay Together" is one of my favourite songs ever written.
